Quickly, I ran to the corner and puked my breakfast into the bucket. I couldn’t handled such a story.

“Speaking of food, I got to go help Sam make lunch. I’ll see you girls in a bit.” I walked to the door.

I opened the door and Sam stood in front of me.

We both sat down at the kitchen table, facing each other for a while. Looking at Sam I don’t know where to start.

“Her fever died down and she’s up and walking. A day or two and they should be clear from the virus. Ashtrid is small but she can still help out without doing the heavy lifting, that’s my job. She can help you with your jobs. They both can help you. You just have to teach them the system. Remember when I taught it to you? You can’t even do simple tasks back then, but now with some time and training, you could probably do them with you eyes closed now.”

“They both went through so much worst than I thought… it seems they desperately need our help even if they didn’t ask for it. They have no where to go…but I won’t let them stay without your approval either…that’s why I’m asking you first…”
“…Mom would’ve never forgive me if I say no…but they’re staying in the basement for now and if I see them do anything that would jeopardize us, they’re gone.”
“Thanks Sam this is why I love you…” I kissed Sam on the cheek as I said that.

“Oh, do you have any spare underwear?” I asked Sam.

“Because Ashtrid is going commando in one of Rob’s shirt.”

“Hold on, let me go find one…”
Rose came back and handed me one of her panties. It’s pink striped with a teddy bear in the middle.

“In the top left of the pantry, do we still have those powders left?”
I knocked on the door before entering.
“Here you go girls, I have lunch for us…”
“What is it?” Rose asked.
“Well and come look for yourself.”

“Do you know what this is Ashtrid?”
“I don’t have a clue what that is…”
“I guess you girls are too young for this kind of food. It’s chicken curry made with curry powder, chicken, basil, some spices, onions and chopped potatoes. Try it, it’s one of my favorite asian dishes. If only we have rice to go with it…”
They both awkwardly scoop the warm food with their hands and put it in their mouth. They looked at each other and begun stuffing their mouths with it.
“Slow down you two, it’s not going any where. Ashtrid, aren’t you gonna let me taste it for poison first?”
She looked up at me and shook her head no, then went back to eating. I picked up my plate and gave half my portions to Rose.
“What are you doing?” Ashtrid asked me.
“I’m giving half my portion to Rose so you don’t have to. You need to eat more, you’re too skinny.”
Ashtrid didn’t say anything as she stared down into her plate.
“…you didn’t have to do that John…” Ashtrid said as she tried to hide her tears from me.
“I know…but I want to…Do you want my other half?” I asked Ashtrid.
“No…I…want you to eat too…my mother always used to say, food tastes better eating with….friends.” Ashtrid said trying to nonchalantly wipe her tears away.
“Alright, let’s eat!” I said smiling.
After we finished our lunch, I asked Ashtrid the question.
“Do you and Rose want to stay here for a while?”
Ashtrid looked at me and thought it through for a couple of seconds.
“No…”
“I…I didn’t expect you to say that…”
“We have to keep moving…I know my uncle is searching for us…if he find us here, I cannot imagine what he would do to you and especially to Sam…he’s a fiend John.”
“Let him come, I have multiple imaginations of what I would do to him if he find his way here.”
“I would love to see that too but it’s a risk I won’t take.”
“Alright, won’t you two stay for a couple more days…that wouldn’t hurt right?”
“Okay, Rose still hasn’t fully recovered from her fever yet. We can stay for a day or two.”
“Great, I’ll see ya in a bit. Oh…I almost forgot. Sam wanted you to have this. It’s not much but at least you won’t be half naked anymore.” I said as I handed her the panty.
Ashtrid took it and looked at it. “It’s cute…thank her for me?”
“I will…” I grabbed our plates and headed for the door.
Rose suddenly comes running up to me. I panicked and flustered my keys onto the floor.

“Rose’s not gonna play with you, I’ve already talked to her about it. Rose wants to thank you for the food. I mean for half of your portion you gave her.”
“Thank you Johnny for yummy food…” Rose said with that intoxicating smile as she open up her arms.
“It’s okay, you can hug her John. She’s not gonna bite you…unless you want her too.” Ashtrid said teasing me.
“Oh…” I said putting the trays on the table.
“You’re welcome Rose…”I said and hugged her. For a second, I thought I was hugging Jean. I forgot Rose was wearing Jean’s clothes. The warmth and the touch of a beautiful woman with the smell of my late wife. Standing there hugging Rose, I rests my right cheek on her right forehead with my eyes closed. I was lost for a moment.
“Uh…You want the room for yourselves? Because…I can just…you know, wait outside and guard the door while you two do your thing John. Just don’t break Rose in half, okay?” Ashtrid said smiling.
Coming back to reality, I released my hug from Rose, quickly grabbed the trays and got out of the room.
“See ya later Johnny boy.” Ashtrid said with a loud giggle as I exit the room.

“Rose, do you want to stay here?…”
After nonstop pouring for 4 days, the rain has finally stopped. I’ve never felt so motivated making breakfast. Sam quietly eating her breakfast in the kitchen as I stared out the window at the misty sunrise. It’s about time we got back to work, since we’re behind schedule for the crops. I brought down breakfast to the basement. The girls gonna love the breakfast I made. Sugar powdered French toasts with maple syrup. Before I unlock the door, I heard a loud thump against the opposite wall from the door. A couple seconds later I heard it again. Curious to see what’s going on inside, I quickly open the door. I dropped the breakfast tray as I peered into the room. Rose has Ashtrid’s detached bloody head in her hands, the walls painted with Ashtrid’s blood. Rose turns to me with her demonic smile. Her body’s mass was the twice the size she was before.
