Literotic asexstories – A New Beginning Pt. 13 by Incestgod,Incestgod Author’s note. I’ll see what sort of response I get from this edition in the way of followers to determine whether or not to continue it any further. I seem to be losing followers and the rate of following has slowed way down.
She milked my cock with her throat. The only problem was, I kept remembering how good her pussy felt. You know what? The hell with it. I pulled her off me, stood her up and decided to just go for it. Before I changed my mind.
I bent her over the table and got situated. Then pushed into her. It was tight, but not offering too much resistance. In fact she fit like a new pair of gloves. I know one thing, if I’d planned on lasting a while, I couldn’t have been more wrong. She reached under and grabbed my heavy balls and started squeezing and rolling. My cum blasted out before I was even close to calling it quits.
She moaned and whined and I felt her pussy let go and she squirted on me. Squeezing my balls until every last drop of sperm was up inside her.
After she figured me to be finished, she turned around and dropped to her knees and went to sucking and licking.
When she stood up, she stared up into my eyes, something was in those eyes that just turned my insides around. I loved my sister. I hated myself for the way I’d treated her. I’ll tell you right now, that’ll never happen again.
I didn’t know it at the time, but mama had came down and was peeking around the corner at us. After I filled my sisters womb with my seed, she smiled and went back to bed.
I went out on the deck, still feeling the pangs of guilt about the way I treated my sister. What the fuck is wrong with me? I tried to shake it off but couldn’t. I thought about Mrs Fleming. I looked at the sky. It was still early. I wonder if she’s awake yet?
Remembering my key, I went and got it off the hook and walked down there, unlocked the door and went in.
I found her still asleep, so I eased back out and left. No need waking her up just because I’m miserable. So, I got in my truck and headed over to the shop. The men were up and getting ready for work.
I walked over to the slab. There was lumber stacked next to it. I tested the concrete. It was dry. Hearing a truck pull in, I turned to see Jeb parking. He got out and came over to me.
“Morning boss.”
“Morning.”
He looked around at the morning sun, then checked his watch. Then went over and inspected the lumber. Satisfied, he came back over and stood next to me.
“Well, guess we’re officially on the way now. As long as they ieep that material coming, we’ll stay ahead of schedule.”
I liked to hear that.
“We got trucks coming. I need to find drivers.”
He thought a minute.
“You know what? I may have an answer to that. When May and I left Pennsylvania, there was a bunch of truckers that worked for the mill that got laid off, too. Some of thrm stayed around driving for other smaller outfits, coal mines and whatnot. Apparently at a big pay cut. If I can, I’ll use your phone and call around up there. See if I can find any interested.”
“Sure, come on over.”
“I’ll call the the coffee shop. He always knows the news.”
“Well, go on over and make your calls. If you find any interested, let them know I’ll pay to get them and their families here. We’ll sort them out living quarters.”
He hurried off.
George, Warren and Scott came out. They went to the office and gathered up tools and started laying out lumber. George came over to me,
“Morning sir. Ready for the day?”
“Sure am.”
“Wasn’t Jeb here a minute ago?”
“Yeah, he went to make a phone call about some truck drivers.”
“You want some coffee? Margret has some on in there.”
“Maybe in a minute. How’s the trailers working out for y’all?”
“Far as I know, everbody’s happy. You’ve done alot for us here. More than anybody else has since we found ourself down and out.”
“It’s been my pleasure. I figure when a man’s down, folks oughta give them a hand up, not keep kickin’ them down.”
“Well, I need to get to work.”
He headed off and I turned to look at his trailer. Margret was standing in the door, looking this way. I really didn’t want to get anything started here this morning, so I got in my truck and headed off. It didn’t work, though. She headed me off. I rolled the glass down and she leaned in.
“You’re not going to stop by and say hello?”
“Got things to do.”
“It wouldn’t hurt you to just come in for a bit and drink a cup of coffee.”
“Maybe next time. Hope you enjoy your day, Margret.”
She knew better than to push me too far, so she backed off and went inside. I headed out, going somewhere else but here. I drove over to the docks where the fishing and shrimp boats docked at. I needed to get a better understanding of what was going on with it all on that end.
I saw a boat tied up and some men working on it. I headed over. The man obviously in charge nodded at me,
“Howdy young feller. You huntin’ work?”
“No sir, I’m starting a freighting company and I mean to haul fish and shrimp around to buyers. I’m just curious how it all works.”
“Ah, you must be that Flannery feller I been hearing about.”
“Yes sir, I’m Jacob Flannery.”
“I’m known as Cap hereabouts. So, Mr Flannery, what is it you want to know?”
“Well, who owns the boats? Who runs the operation? Things like that.”
“Ok, well, I own this one and one more like her. I have a young captain in charge of the other one. I run the business, but the captain runs the boat and crew.”
The man pulled out a plug of tobacco and bit off a chew. Spat out in the water. Then eyed Jacob, speculation in his weathered eyes.
“I kinda get the feeling you’re looking for something else here.”
“Sir, I don’t know what I’m really looking for beyond purpose in my life. I reckon if I did, I have the feeling I’d be somewhere else but here on this island.”
“Yeah, I know the feeling. First time I ever felt that way was back when a bunch of Germans tried to split my wig for me.”
“Well, sir, I won’t take up any more of your day.Thank you for talking to me.”
“Hold on a second, son. Tell you what. Go over to the markets. There’s a man there name of Fleischmann. He’s a chinchy old bastard, but he owns a right smart of these fishing boats. Last year, he put out the word he would like to sell out and head off overseas and retire among some kin or other he’s got over there.”
I nodded,
“Thank you, sir.”
He waved and spat and went back to cussing everything that hath breath.
I thought about it and figured it couldn’t hurt to go talk to him.
I drove around until I came to the market area. Parking, I looked around, not having a clue on where to find this Fleischmann fella. I kinda figured if he owned a batch of those big ol’ boats, he wouldn’t be too hard to pick up a trail on.
So, I parked where I seen folks gathering, getting ready to start their day. I got out and walk up to the group that made up the oldest ones there. They saw me coming and kinda tried to ignore me. I was wearing my overalls, boots, and old slouch hat.
I stopped a couple of arms lengths away and addressed them.
“Name’s Jacob Flannery, I’m hunting a man name of Fleischmann.”
Ohe of the men studied me closely before speaking.
“You’re Jacob Flannery?”
“Yep, that’s the name my mama hung on me.”
He turned half way around and gestured to a group of five middle age women gathered up in front of a brick building.
“Those women work for him. They’ll show you.”
He cocked his head slightly,
“So, you’re the Mr Flannery everybody is making all the fuss about?”
I shrugged,
“I don’t know about anybody making much of a fuss over me, but yeah, that my name. There a problem with that, sir?”
He shook his head,
“No, I just had something else in mind when I heard about you, is all.”
“I see, well, I reckon we all have different opinions on matters.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Well, sir, it’s not supposed to mean anything at all, so, since you seem so all fired up to judge folks by the way they look, I reckon you can figure that out all on your own.”
He lost the arrogant little smirk he’d been regarding me with. Then looked around at his companions who just watched to see how it would unfold.
I stuck my hand out,
“Never did catch your name.”
He looked at my outstretched hand with uncertainty. Finally choosing to accept it. He tried squeezing my hand.
So that’s how he wants to play this out. My hands were big, hard and callous. Hardened by years of tireless and brutally hard work. I could take a big horseshoe in hand and bend it straight. I clamped down on his hand then. I knew I could crush it if I was of a mind to, but that’s not me. Some folks just need a lesson in manners.
He tried to pull away, but I held him fast.
“Your name, sir?”
“Roy Peters.”
I squeezed a little harder.
“Well, Mr Peters, It is certainly a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”
He winced at the pain,
“Yes sir, Mr Flannery.”
I let him go and he stepped back, rubbing his hand.
I tipped my hat and sauntered off. I heard the others making fun of him.
I walked up to the women. They were watching me closely. A couple were smoking cigarettes. Those fancy kind, all rolled up and ready made, not the Bull Durham or Prince Albert folks back home rolled up.
I tipped my hat,
“Ladies, I’m Jacob Flannery. I’d be most appreciative if you’d direct me to the whereabouts of a Mr Fleischmann.”
The oldest of the women, a buxom lady of about 50 or so, eyed me curiously.
“Young man, what did you do to Roy Peters? We’ve never saw him step back for anybody like that.”
“M’am, I couldn’t rightly say. I just didn’t much appreciate his familiar tone and taught him some manners is all.”
She pulled on her cigarette and exhaled. Then dropped the butt on the sidewalk, crushing it under the toe of her shoe.
She held out her hand
“I’m Claire Barnes, Mr Fleischmann’s secretary.”
I took her hand gently in mine.
“Pleased to meet you, m’am.”
She held my hand a bit longer,
“That’s a strong hand, Mr Flannery.”
“Yes m’am.”
She released my hand.
“Well, come with me. I’ll take you to see Mr Fleischmann.”
She led the way. Her wide hips swaying under her skirt. I tried to focus on anything other than her. Thankfully, the walk was short. She stopped at the last office and knocked. A gruff voice came from inside,
“Yeah, what is it?”
She opened the door and motioned me in. I stepped past her, looking around the sparsely furnished office. There was a desk facing the door, two chairs facing the desk. The desk was bare except for two stacks of paper, an ink bottle, pen, and telephone. There were no pictures hanging on the wall.
She spoke up,
“Mr Fleischmann, this is Mr Jacob Flannery. He wishes a meeting.”
He waved her off and she left, closing the door. He settled his hard gaze on me,
“Flannery, you say?”
“Yes sir.”
“Hmm. Well, you’re not what I expected. But who the hell is these days.”
He squinted an eye at me,
“I saw you give that sumbitch Peters the scrunch face when I was coming in.”
He held out his gnarled hand. Those hands had seen work.
I took his hand firmly.
“Pleased, Mr Fleischmann. He just needed to be reminded of his upbringing is all”
He chuckled,
“Call me Martin. Any man that can put that silly bastard in his place like you did don’t have to call me mister.”
“Jake will do for me.”
“Well, Jake, I suppose there’d be a reason you’re here.”
“Yes sir. Fella name of Cap down on the docks said I should come see you.”
“He did, did he? Well, he must of taken a shine to you. He don’t say much to folks hereabouts anything that doesn’t require them to knock on the gates of hell. So, what is it I can do for you?”
“He allowed as to your desire to sell out.”
“Yep, I’ve been courting that idea for a spell now. You interested in it?”
“Well, sir, I don’t rightly know for certain.”
“I take it you’re a logger, with some farmin’ throwed in, to boot. You don’t get shoulders and muscles like that otherwise. So, what you know about fishing?”
“Nothing where this is concerned. I’m starting a freighting company. Truth be told, I don’t know anything about that either. I’m a quick study. I made my fortune in the oil business. All I knew about that, I read in whatever I could find on the matter. That and dealing square with folks.”
“I know JT. Have for a long time. He speaks well of you. Tell you what. You sit down there and spell out what you got in mind, I’ll tell you what I think after that.”
So, I did. Start to finish.
“Ok, so, that seems pretty straight forward to my way of thinking. If you want to but me out, I’ll sell to you. For a good price. I figure $100,000 oughta get it done. Now, I got good crews on my six boats. Took me years to build them. As far as running this office is concerned, Claire handles that. I just sit around sucking up air. So leave it at that and you’ll not have any problems.”
I stuck out my hand.
“Deal.”
He shook it. Looking me in the eye. He stood up,
“Well, come on, young man, let’s go get this done.”
We stopped by the next office up, the door was open, so we went in. Claire was talking to one of the other women that had been out front earlier.
“Claire, Jake here is buying me out today. I’ll need you to guide him through.”
She looked at me a long moment. I wasn’t able to read her eyes.
“Of course, I’ll assist him in any way I can.”
The younger woman, about 40, slim built, pretty, blonde hair, and sparkling intelligent blue eyes, stood up and held out her hand. I took it
“I’m Cyrilla Fourtnoy. I assist Mrs Barnes in running the office.
“Mrs Fourtnoy, it certainly is a pleasure.”
Martin spoke up,
“Jake, let’s go before these women get you trussed up in the corner.”
They had a laugh at that and I turned and left, Martin following me. We got in my truck and went to the bank. We were let straight in.
Mr Willoby stood up,
“My, my, what brings you gentlemen in today?”
“Willoby, he’s buying me out. I need you to get it all changed over. Get them infernal court wranglers on it. I’m leaving the company bank account as it stands. He’s giving me $100,000 for it, lock, stock and barrel.”
“Yes sir, I’ll get right on it. I assume the purchase amount is to be put into your personal account?”
“Yep.”
“Well, consider it done.”
Martin grunted, shook his hand and we left. I avoided looking into Pat’s office, I had too much on my plate right now. We went back to the office. He gathered the five women up,
“Jacob Flannery here is your new boss. He just bought me out. I expect you hussies will treat him with the same respect you afford me, God knows it ain’t much, but give it to him anyway. Claire, you contact the boat crews and have them stay on dock tomorrow, meet us here so I can tell them of the change of ownership. Jake, I’ll turn it over to you.”
Claire spoke up,
“Yes sir. But losing a days pay isn’t going to go over favorably.”
“If I may, I’ll not have that. Make sure they understand that they will be paid for the full day. I’ll see to it. Ladies, I’ll take the time later to get to know you each in turn. But right now, I have business. The only change I’m making in the office as of right now, is Claire will be taking over Martin’s job, the rest of you will move up a spot. Claire will hire a new employee to fill the bottom position. I have someone in mind for that position. I’ll bring her with me tomorrow. You will each get a fifty percent raise in pay, as well.”
There was a lot of murmuring,
“I’ll be back in the morning. Good day, ladies.”
Martin walked me out.
“Son, I believe you’ll make good here.”
He shook my hand,
“See you in the morning.”
“Yes sir.”
I got in and left, heading home. First, I headed back to the office. Jeb was back. They were putting up walls, moving right along. Jeb saw me and came over.
“Well, I got nine or ten drivers headed this way. They need tickets. I told them to stand by in the morning and youd take care of it.”
“Good job. Now how do I get them their tickets?”
“I’ll go with you in the morning to the depot and we’ll get it done.”
“I need to wire them money to eat on.”
“No, meals come with the tickets.”
Hmm, never woulda thought it. Well, what about their families?”
“All but a couple have families. I think one has three youngsters. The rest just one or two.”
“Well, we need to accomodate for them.”
“Say ten show up with families. You got the wife a piece. Then round it around to two youngsters each. That’s twenty, so roughly forty. Where you gonna put them all?”
“Fuck if I know. We better get started on it. If we go with trailer houses, ten of them with two bedrooms, would that work?”
“I doubt it’ll be any worse than what they’re dealing with now. The banks are in the process of taking their homes. A few already lost them. Living on others, relatives and such.”
I looked around at the three trailers, imagining ten more. There was plenty of room. It’ll be easy enough to extend the electric, gas and water.
“Ok, I’m gonna go buy ten trailers and have them brought out. When they get here, y’all help them out if they need it. First, write me out a list of names so I can get their tickets”
“Yes sir.”
He wrote down the information. I headed off and drove to the trailer house place. The salesman came out all smiles.
“Mr Flannery, what can I do for you today?”
“I need ten two bedroom or larger trailers.”
“Well, let’s see, I don’t have any used ones, but I do have some new two bedrooms, and one big three bedroom.”
“Can you have them outfitted with furniture and appliances. Two beds in the second room on the two bedroom. Gas heaters. Water hearters.”
“Yes sir. They come with gas heat and water heaters installed. Do you need them delivered and installed like the last time?”
“Yes sir. As soon as possible. I’ll have people showing up within the week.”
“I’ll get the crew on it starting first thing in the morning.”
I went in a wrote a check, then left for the deep freeze and washer stores. I ordered three more freezers and clothes washers along with gas heaters for the washhouse.
Now, to the train depot. I got there and told the man what I wanted. I handed him the paper and he copied down the names.
“You say the are travelling with families?”
“Most are, yes sir.”
“Well accompanied children ride free.”
He figured it all up,
“Ok, for twenty adults at second class which includes berthing and meals, it’ll be $75 a ticket.”
“How much is first class?”
“$85 per ticket. Which offers larger berthing and higher quality food.”
“Ok, let’s do the first class then.”
“Yes sir,”
He did his figures,
“$1700.”
I wrote a check. He looked at it,
“Not to be disrespectful, but for one of this size, I’ll need to verify it.”
“Yes sir, not at all.”
He called the bank, they verified it. He wrote out a receipt and handed it to me.
“I’ll call the depot and inform them. The tickets will be waiting.”
“Thank you, sir.”
“Of course, thank you for your patronage. If you’ll leave your number, I’ll be sure you are notified just prior to their arrival.”
I gave him my number.
Finally home. I was starving, not having eaten all day. I parked and went in, smelling supper cooking. A big pork shoulder roast with taters and carrots and gravy. Beans and cornbread.
I’ll tell you what, my belly went to dancing up a four step waltz. Hazel got me a glass of tea, and I went to the deck, enjoying the sunset out across the water. I sipped my tea and thought about the day. I’m making progress. I now own a fledgeling trucking company and an established fishing and shrimping company.
Supper was called and we ate heartily. Afterward, I called Hazel out.
“I’ve got a job for you if you want it.”
“Sure I’ll take it.”
“I bought a fishing and shrimping outfit today. I gave everyboy a promotion in the office, opening up a spot.”
“Thank you, Jacob. I’ll make you proud.”
“I know you will. I just want to see you do well. Be ready first thing.”
She got up and kissed me, then went inside. I stretched out in my chair and finished watching the sunset. The breeze coming in was getting chilly, so I headed inside and took a bath and shaved. Then rolled up in bed. I woke up briefly when Elsie came in, but went right back to sleep.
Morning came and I opened my eyes and blinked out the sleep, got up and splashed water on my face and hair, slicked it back and got dressed. I headed downstairs and found Hazel made up to make a puppy pull a log wagon. She looked good. Annie came down dressed for work.
“How you getting to work, honey?”
“The boss picks me up.”
“Ok then.”
I need to get her and Hazel a ride. We took off and got to the office. Everybody was standing around outside. I got out and introduced Hazel to Claire.
“Put her to work. I’ll leave y’all to sort out the details.”
Claire lit a cigarette and looked Hazel over,
“Come with me, Honey, I’ll introduce you to the other women and get you settled in.”
I went over to the men as Martin came out.
“Ok, you idiots listen up! He’s the new owner. Nothing’s changed. You still report to Claire. He’s just moved her to my office. Now, if I find out you let him down, i’ll come back here if I gotta swim and kill the lot of you and cut your carcasses into bait.”
I took over, walking among them for introductions. Then i went back to the front.
“Ok, i’m giving you the day off with pay. Y’all enjoy yourselves!”
I went and found Hazel. They were installing her in an office and showing her the ropes.
“I need to steal my sister for a spell.”
She followed me out and we went to the Ford house. I bought both her and Annie one of them coupes apiece.
“Now y’all got a way around.”
“Annie doesn’t know how to drive it.”
“Well, she will when you’re done teaching her, won’t she?”
I got out and went back in,
“I need that other one delivered to the house.”
“Yes sir, we’ll take it right over.”
Hazel went back to work and I went and ordered water and gas line and electric cable for the trailers. Then I headed to the docks with the list of my boats I got with the sale.
I found them easy enough. I climbed aboard each one. They were meticulously maintained. I wasn’t sure what to expect, judging by the condition ofmany others which were in pretty nasty condition. Martin was right. These were good crews.
I headed back to the truck yard. When I got there, the crew was delivering and setting up the new house trailers. I saw they had delivered the trucks and trailers. Ten brand new Kenworths. Five straight beds, five with box trailers. I went over and admired them. Sitting in them. Starting them up. Damn, weren’t these fine!”
I headed out back, Jeb was box blading the yard area, preparing for gravel. The other three were working on the shop. They were already putting the tin siding on it. They’d be starting on the roof tomorrow. The more I thought about the rest of the acreage out back, the more I envisioned warehousing. From what I’d seen, warehousing space was at a premium on the island. People were afraid of hurricane storms blowing them away. They don’t blow away concrete.
Suddenly, it became clear to me. Concrete. Why had that escaped me to begin with?
I ran over and stopped the three men and flagged down Jeb.
“Stop working on the shop. I’m changing the plans. Tear that down. Stack the lumber. We’ll use it for forms. We’re building everything out of reinforced concrete. Y’all know how to form walls?”
“Yes sir, we’ve done it a few times.”
“I’m going to the cement plant. Jeb, you get a list together of materials to form it up, then go order the materials. I want the walls atleast a foot thick. Extend the shop out for the extra width.”
“Yes sir.”
They got busy. I headed over to the cement plant. Arriving, I went inside.
“Hey Mr Flannery, what brings you out and about today?”
“Well, i reckon i need more cement.”
“Ok, what you got in mind?”
I laid it out for him. From the shop to the warehousing.
“Man, I’ll tell you what, I’ll cut you a good discount on those jobs.”
“I appreciate that. Say, I bought a fishing company from Martin Fleischmann. I was thinking about expanding that, adding my own refrigerated warehouse. You know anything about that sort of thing?”
“No, but I know who does. I’ll give him a call and put him in contact with you.”
“Thanks, I really appreciate that. Well, have a good day, sir.”
We shook hands and parted. I went back to the yard, thinking of options. I parked and watched them dismantle the walls. I hoped I was making the right choices here. What I knew is that very little is warehoused here on the island. Most of everything was trucked in from Houston. That had a way of limiting options for local retailers. Having a readily available supply of replenishment goods on hand locally would make everybodies life easier. I don’t see how that could go wrong.
What was being used right now was only a couple of acres or so. I owned a hundred. That left a lot of space available for much needed warehousing. I’m thinking I’m on the right track here. It was high ground here. Far enough in to protect it from the flooding I’ve been hearing about. Protection from anything but the winds. So, the reinforced concrete buildings will cover that angle.
I looked at the office building. It was built strong. Heavily reinforced concrete. I admonished myself for wasting the time and resources on building a frame structure to begin with when the answer to my needs had been right in front of me all along.
Well, we live and learn. I started seeing a plan unfold in my head. Expand the offices and move the fishing company here with the trucking and warehousing. I need a map of this island. But for now, I’d just have to guess. I drove past the yard area and saw a road of sorts running further back.
I drove down it, just seeing where it went. I came to a rundown fence at the back of the property. I got out and crossed over. The bay was right over there. There was shallow water a ways out, then it appeared deeper. I needed to find out who owns this small piece of land between mine and the bay.
I drove back to town and went to the bank. I was let straight into Mr. Willoughby’s office. Shaking hands, I asked about that piece of ground. He thought a minute,
“Oh yes, I recall now. A man named Ferguson owns that. I do believe he has it listed for sale. Hang on a minute.”
He dialed a number and while he waited, he slid over anothe set of deposit forms. I looked them over, JT had deposited another $411,900 into my account. I just shook my head and signed it for deposit. I was still working on spendingmy first million out of the two I opened my account with and he’s deposited well over five million and counting since that day.
Somebody came on,
“Yes, I’m inquiring about the property that butts up to the old Harris estate, on the bay side. Oh really. Well, I have a cash buyer if you’ll come down to the bank. Ok, see you in a few.”
He hung up.
“He’s coming. I recall that because is about 50 acres and most of it is tidal flats and under water. Past that, it’s good deep water.Out into the bay.”
“Perfect.”
We exchanged small talk until the broker and owners agent showed up. Finally, they were led in, introduced and sat down.
“My client is asking $1,000 for it. It’s encumbrance free, commercial ready.”
“I’ll take it.”
We shook hands, the deed was signed over, as well as a bill of sale. I left, heading back to the cement plant.
“I got another job for you. I want a cement pier and boat docks built.”
“Damn, when you go, you go all the way. Well, I’ll tell you what, go see the engineering outfit up town,” He wrote down directions, “that’s where you start with something like that.”
I thanked him and headed over. Arriving, I asked the lady for the man he’d wrote down.
“Just a moment sir.”
She got up and put on a show with her hips that could cause a gypsy to to turn to righteousness. She came back and escorted me back.
The man was slender built, yet had an air of strength about him.
“Sam McEntire, Mr…?”
“Jacob Flannery,”
I took his hand, and he gestured to a seat.
“Well, Mr Flannery, how may our firm be of service?”
“I reckon I want a cement dock and pier built to accommodate six or more fishing and shrimping boats.”
“I see, well the first step will be to look the site over. See if the project is efen viable from an engineering standpoint. When would it be possible to see it?”
I got up,
“Let’s go.”
“Oh, right now?”
“Yes sir, I’m not one to lollygag around when it comes to a job of work.”
“Ok, then. Let me get my partner and we’ll go look it over.”
He went into a bathroom and came out changed into jeans and button down workshirt, with boots on.
He went to the next office over and came out with a shorter, barrel chested man.
“Mr Flannery, my partner, Sam Parker.”
We shook hands and Sam caught him up on what was going on.
“Oh yes, I know the area well. It’s typically and expensive proposal to do a job like this. Most come in wanting a private residential set up. Well, let’s go have a look, shall we?”
We got out there and I stood off to the side and let them work it out. About an hour later, they came over with some sketches and drawings of the entire thing.
“Well, the good news is, we can get it bult for you. We have access to a crew that we’ve worked with many times. They have the experience, expertise, and equipment to get it done in short order. The bad news, you’re looking at between $100,000 to $200,000 turnkey.”
“Well, get ‘er done, gentlemen. Mr Willoughby will transfer funds as needed.”
We shook hands and they headed back. I went back to the shop. They had the walls down, the tin stacked and two were pulling nails and George had a piece of railroad track he’d picked up somewhere, using it as an anvil to straighten nails, dropping them in a five gallon grease pail.
Jeb was still dragging the yard. Leveling it with a slight slope for drainage. I went over to the trailers, the last two were still on the trucks, waiting to be set into position.
Four men were leveling. Four more were running service lines. Two were building porches with steps. I looked and they had upgraded the original three with porches. Moving the steps to the back door. Another was guiding the driver as he backed the tenth one in place. They had started with the three bedroom. I intended that for use to bunk the single men in. The teen two bedrooms for families. I’d play it by ear until they got here.
They were setting the last one in place when I went home.
I headed up, my arrival announced by the gyp and her now grown pup. They were bawling up a storm. Something was off. Those dogs were usually where the kids were at. Elsie’s car was gone. I went on up. Annie was at the table waiting on me.
“Uncle Jacob! Elsie’s at the hospital having the baby. I’m to ride over with you.”
Oh shit.
“Ok, let’s go.”
We got in the truck and headed to the hospital. Getting there I went in and headed to the desk. The woman directed me to where I needed to be. We hurried in and a nurse headed me off.
“I assume you’re Mr Miller?”
“Yes m’am.”
“Well, your wife is fine, and everything is going well. Come on, I’ll take y’all in.”
We got to the room where she was being held. She was sweating and breathing. A doctor was sitting on a chair looking up in there.
“Ok, Elsie, push hard now.”
I went up and Elsie looked up at me. Then grabbed my hand as she pushed with all her might.
“One more time now. Push.”
The baby came out then. I looked at him, a tear in my eye as I saw my baby take his first breath. One of the nurses took him and smacked him right on his bare ass. He didn’t react, just looked around with bright eyes as best he could. She went to smack him again, but mama stopped her.
“M’am, he’s alright. His daddy didn’t cry either.”
The nurse looked him over real good while the doctor pulled the placenta and cleaned her up, checking her over good. The nurse suctioned out his nose. Checked his breathing. Then laid him down, tied off his cord and cut it. She cleaned him up and put a diaper on him, slicked his hair back, and handed him to his mama.
Elsie took him and put him on a tit. He started suckling with a vengeance. She looked back up at me. She puckered her lips, and I kissed her gently.
“What are we going to name him?”
She looked down at him.
“He’s his daddy made over. We’ll call him Jacob Jr.”
I smiled at that. Jacob Jr. That had a ring to it.
“Ok, now go home. I can tell by how pale you are you haven’t had a bite one to eat today. We’ll spend the night and go home tomorrow. I need rest and you’ll just fidget around keeping me up. I love you, baby.”
“I do love you, too.”
I stroked his hair gently and kissed them both goodnight. I headed out to the waiting room with mama. Hazel and Annie were sitting with Tommy and Sophie. Sophie ran over to me and climbed up on my lap. Tommy sat next to me. Life sure felt fine right about now.
“Everybody hungry?”
Nods all around.
“Well, let’s go eat. I’m starving.”
We went to the restaurant and I ordered a ribeye steak, baked tater and grilled flounder fillet with a pitcher of sweet tea. Everybody else ordered. The women talked about the baby. Finally, Hazel looked over to me,
“Jake, thank you so much for the job. I really like the other women. I’ll say, they are all smitten with you. Jake this, Jake that. I’d swear I was working around a bunch of love struck teenage females instead of middle aged women.”
I laughed, shaking my head. The smells of food were distracting me. Finally, she brought out the plates and handed them out.
I dug in, savoring the delicious food. I’d never had grilled flounder before, but let me tell you right now, it was some kinda good. We ate, then headed home for bed.
I rolled out early. Hit the bathroom, sat on the toilet a while, took a hot bath, shaved, doused my face down with Bay Rum, and dressed. I drove down to the docks and got there while the men were getting ready to head out for a day’s work. I greeted them all in turn but otherwise stayed out of the way.
I watched as each one floated out, men readying the nets and gear. Then I headed to the office and went through, speaking to each woman in turn. Hazel was in her office. I went and gave her a kiss on the cheek, told her how proud I was of her. Then headed for Claire’s office.
She stood up when I came in, I waved her back down and sat in a visitors chair.
“You got everything you need?”
“Yes sir, I can’t think of anything we need right now.”
“Well, I wanted to feel you out on a move. I’m buildind a trucking yard, shop, office and boat dock and pier, with refrigerated warehouses. I qant to move all my operations there.”
“Yes, I know the area. I was thinking you might be planning on something like this, so I talked to the other women yesterday about it. It’s a much nicer area than this, so everybody is on board with you.”
“Glad to hear it.”
“Sir, if I may, you seem to know what you’re about. Unusual for such a young man. Hazel say’s you’re but 19. Every 18 and 19 year old around here is too busy seeing how many ways they can cause trouble for themselves and their mothers. But here you are, building something that will last generations.”
“M’am, where I come from out in those river bottoms, there’s no time for foolishness. I started working back when I was eight. I had to prove myself. I wasn’t as strong as the grown men, but I just didn’t have no quit in me. By the time I was 14 or 15, I was running crews of men. Pulling crosscut saws or swinging axes from daylight to dark. Then plowing, planting and harvesting crops and hay to boot. All I’ve ever known was a job of work that needed doing. My papa run off, leaving me to run the household. I just did the best I could. Then I partned with JT Morgan, and bought everybody around out on credit of my word. We started drilling oil. I founded a cooperative for the farmers and let them stay and work the land. I paid them all off, just as agreed on. Then I sold out to JT and made the contract for them to maintain the cooperative and pay me a dividend on oil production. Then moved here. I didn’t have work to do anymore, so I created myself a job. Which leads me here.”
“You are quite the man, that’s for certain.”
She studied me as I looked out the window, thinking.
“I understand congratulations are in order on the birth of your son?”
“Yes m’am. He was born last night. She’s bringing him home today.”
I looked at her ring finger and spotted the gold band.
“What about you? What led you to be here working?”
She laughed,
“That would be the need to pay bills.”
“I don’t mean to pry, but, doesn’t your husband work a job?”
“Sometimes. Most of the time he’s sitting around dreaming of ways to get rich quick. The same with the other women here. A couple are divorced. The others are with men that lost their careers in the crash and don’t have the skills required to work blue collar jobs. I guess they spend their days flitting about in some mischief or other.”
“Well, that’s a sad business. A man oughta work and contribute to his families upkeep, whatever it may be. If you’ll work, there’s always somebody that’ll hire you to do it.”
“I think the men in our lives view physical labor as being beneath them.”
It was my turn to laugh,
“Well, let me know how that works out for them.”
I wrote my home number and address down.
“Let me know if you need anything from me. I have business so I’ll leave you to it.”
Claire watched him leave. Her hand went to her breast as something awakened inside her that had been buried deep for quite some time now. His broad muscular shoulders. Narrow hips. Work hardened muscles flowing in his easy movements. The confidence he exuded without the cockiness to prove anything to anybody. His long shouler length wavy hair. The scent of his aftershave. Just his remarkable intelligence and easy respect he showed to others. No nonsense, the unspoken expectation that others carry their weight and do their share. Accepting no excuses for shirking or laziness.
She felt something she hadn’t felt for far too long. She was wet. Her panties were soaked. She shook her head and refocused on work. She had his business to run afterall and wasn’t going to let him down.
I drove over to the store and to meet with Annie. Mr Perkins met me at the counter.
“Well, Mr Flannery, what a surprise. I thought youd be home with your newborn. Congratulations, sir.”
“Thank you. No, I would just be in the way of the womenfolks, and I know better than to get in the way of a female with a job of work in mind.”
He chuckled,
“True, kind sir, so very true. Speaking of which, your niece is making quite the impact in this store. My sales are already up. She’s set out to rearrange everything. I just stay out of her way. She has a natural head for this business. Unlike any I’ve ever seen. By the way, whatever happened to those sisters?”
I shrugged.
“They’re staying home I reckon. They went to fetch their young’uns up in Kansas I believe it was.”
“Ahh, I see. Well, Annie is definitely enough to handle things here. Oh, while I’m thinking about it, Annie came across some firearms and ammunition in the back. They were on a shelf behind other merchandise. The boxes had quite the collection of dust. To be honest, I don’t believe I ordered them. To my suspicion, they were here from the previous owner. Annie has taken an interest in one of them. I wanted to discuss the possibility of her owning it.”
He went to the back and came out with three boxes. A Savage Model 1920 in
.250-3000 Savage. A Winchester Model 94 in.30 WCF, and a Remington Model 10 shotgun. Then he came back with a case each of ammo for each one.
“Her interest is in the Savage rifle.”
“Ok, how much do you want for them?”
“Oh, nothing. It’s my pleasure to gift them to you.”
“Sir, I’d not be comfortable taking such valuable items for nothing. I mean no offense.”
“I insist. You have been an exceptional customer, and I can think of no one else I’d rather see have them.”
“Well, I appreciate it. They sure are fine.”
I took them out of the box and looked them over. I put them back in the boxes.
“Of course, give her the one she wants. I’ll take the other ones home.”
He offered his hand. I took it.
“Say, I’m sure you heard about my buying the fishing company?”
“Certainly.”
“Do you know the women that work there?”
“I certainly do. They all shop here regularly.”
“Do they have tabs?”
“Indeed they do.”
“I’d like to pay them off.”
He looked at my in astonishment,
“Well, Ok then.”
He retrieved his box and got out their tabs. They were into him for quite a bit. Over a hundred dollars a piece for the five women.
“Of course the each make weekly payments.”
He figured it up and I wrote a check, then decided to add a hundred each in credit to their tabs. He took the check, looked at it, then stared at me open mouthed.
“That should help them out. I just don’t want anybody but them charging anything against the hundred in credit.”
“Oh, absolutely. I’ll make note of it.”
He helped me carry the guns and ammo out to my truck. Then I went home. I carried the guns up, then the ammunition. Elsie and mama were at the table. I kissed and hugged Elsie. I heard car doors slam. Looking out, I saw Maggie and Callie coming up. They came in, each kissed me, then set to fussing over the baby and Elsie.
I excused myself and went down and headed to the restaurant. There i ordered a seafood platter. Oysters, crab, shrimp and grilled red snapper. All of it locally caught. I ate then went to the yard.
They were building forms for the three new washhouses and the shop. The trailers were set and another guy was on a backhoe installing a septic tank and drain line. I went over and looked through the trailers. Other than supplies, they were ready to go. Furniture and everything. I’d get them set up with their needs when they arrived.
Which reminded me. They’d need transportation. I went and knocked on the door of George’s trailer. Margret answered wearing a robe. Her face lit up in a smile.
“Why, Mr Flannery, what brings you by today?”
“I need you to go with me.”
“Well, come on in and let me get dressed.”
She stepped back and let me in, the took off her robe, turned and and walked naked back to her bedroom. She came out dressed and walked up to me,
“I thought you may have been here for another round.”
I chuckled at her,
“Maybe another time. Right now, I have business to conduct.”
“I certainly hope it’s soon. My poor little kitty is meowing for her daddy to come home.”
I just shook my head and went out to the truck. We got in and went to Florence’s place. I sent Margret after her. They came out and climbed in.
I headed to the Ford house and met the salesman.
“I’m in need of four of them station wagons.”
“Yes sir, just got some in.”
We went and did the papers and paid for them.
“I brung two women to drive two back. I need you to follow them back with the other two.”
He got up and went out back and came in with two men.
“Y’all follow the women to where they’re going with two station wagons.”
He looked at me,
“I assume they’ll bring them back?”
“Yes sir. Now, can you tell me where the phone company is at?”
He wrote down directions and gave them to me. I went out and told the women,
“Y’all drive these back and then bring the men back here. I’m headed to the phone company to get y’all phones put in.”
I took off and went to the phone outfit. Getting in, I headed to the desk and told the woman what I needed.
“I need fourteen phones installed in mobile homes. Two installed in other homes. I need them turned on in my office building, too.”
She looked at me like I had taken leave of my senses,
“You’re office building?”
“Yes m’am, I have a hundred acres on the east side of the island with an office building on it. I also got fourteen mobile homes and two regular homes for my employees to live in. I’d like to get them phones. I’m expanding the office out, too. I bought a fishing and shrimping company and I’m moving the offices over there.”
“I see, well, I’m not sure who you are, young man, but I really don’t have the time nor the inclination to play whatever games you’re playing here today are.”
“No m’am, I’m not playing any games, I’m trying to get phones installed. Can you help me?”
“Just who are you anyway?”
“Jacob Flannery.”
“You’re Jacob Flannery?”
“Yes m’am.”
“What’s going on here?”
I’d reached the end of my patience with this insolent female. It dawned on me what her problem was. My clothes.
“Look lady, I’ve had enough of your shit. You want references? You call the bank, tell Mr Willoughby I said to get his ass down here. While you’re at it, call the mercantile and the Ford house, get them here, too.”
She arrogantly spun the phone around and said,
“Ok, you call them. The only thing I’m calling is your bluff, then the police to have you removed.”
I got out my wallet and extracted the paper with all the numbers. I dialed the bank,
“Mr Willoughby, Jacob Flannery, I’m at the phone company and I need you to come down here. Yes sir. Right now. I’ll meet you out front.”
I called the mercantile, the Ford house and the trailer place. In a few minutes, I had them all on the way. A few minutes later, they were all out front. I went and opened the door and they came in, following me to the desk.
“This woman here seems to have trouble accepting the fact that I am who I say I am.”
They all looked at her,
“That’s Mr Flannery. What is the issue here?”
I turned to them,
“Thank y’all for coming, I got it from here.”
They looked at the woman a long moment, shook my hand and left. I picked up the phone and dialed 0. The operator came on,
“Yes m’am, I need you to hook me into the police department.”
I handed her the phone. She stared at it, then at me. Shaking her head to clear it, she hung up the phone,
“Mr Flannery, I…”
“Look, lady, can I get the phones hooked up or not? I’m tired of fucking around with you. I want to get this business done so I can go home and see my woman and newborn son.”
“I’m so sorry, yes sir.”
“Just get it done, please.”
She pulled out the forms and I filled them in.
“Mr Flannery, the phones at your office are still active according to our records. I just need to transfer the service to you.”
“Ok, do that, please.”
“I’ll get someone out right away to begin installing service at the other places.”
“Thank you. How much do I owe?”
“Sir, in light of the trouble this situation has caused, I’ll waive the intial charges.”
“Thank you.”
I left before I got more irritated than I already was. I head home, then got another thought. I drove back over to the yard. The new cars were parked by the new trucks.
I flagged Jeb and George down.
“Y’all take one of the cars in place of the truck. Jeb, we’ll use your old truck as a shop truck. Just let me know how much you want for it.”
“Hell, you can have it. They got it fixed and shined up.”
“I appreciate that.”
What now? I think I’ve gone as far as I can today. Time to head home and eat a bite. See the baby. I pulled in and parked, then went on up. Elsie was at the table, feeding the baby. Mama was cooking fried porkchops.
I knew it was coming on to time to hire a housekeeper and cook. Mama and Elsie could handle it, but why should they have to?
Mama fixed me a jar of tea and brought it to me. She turned the porkchops and came over to me,
“I lost the baby. I bled some and miscarried.”
Well, I wasn’t sure how to feel about that.
“I guess it’s how things go sometimes.”
I just nodded again.
“I mean, who am I fooling anyways. Thinking I can raise a child at 58 years old.”
More nodding. I’ve learned that when womenfolks are talking about such things you don’t know how to feel or talk about, it’s best to just keep your trap shut and nod a lot.
“Anyway, thank you for listening, son.”
“Yes m’am.”
She headed back in to tend to supper, I went and sat down, looking at the baby. Sophie came up and climbed up on my lap. I snuggled her close. Annie came down as we heard a car door shut and Hazel came in.
She made her rounds greeting everybody, then made a fuss over the baby. He started whimpering a little, so she picked him up and walked around with him until he settled down again.
Tommy came in with the dogs. The gyp laid down by my chair. The pup next to his. He looked at the baby
“Are you still our pa now that you’ve got a new baby?”
“Why, of course I am. Why you asking such foolishness?”
“I don’t know. I’m glad you’re still our pa, though.”
We ate supper amongst easy conversation. Hazel was settling into her new job well. Annie had managed to find a bunch of old stock that still had considerable value in the massive tangle that filled the stockroom. She had it clean, organized, and inventoried. The retail floor was cleaned, rearranged and more profitable now.
I got up and went outside and walked down the beach. I was staring off into the distance. I saw something that had washed up on the shore and went to it. A whiskey bottle. Now that set my mind to wandering some. I set it down up by the grass and kept walking. My thoughts going back to earlier ideas of bootlegging whiskey. With all this prohibition nonsense going on, and how people still wanted their booze. Problem was, most of that which was available was just popskull rotgut sugar whiskey. Not the pure corn liquor you got from Mr Scruggins.
Now, after all the necessaries were done, planting, harvesting and such, I’d ease over to the Scruggins place and help him work his stills. He’d taught me careful, too. How to build a good pot still, the best mash recipe’s, a lot of the tricks of the trade.
I was staring off into the distance, planning, when a voice jerked me out of my thoughts. It was Mrs Fleming.
“Why, Jacob, fancy seeing you out and about. I’ve certainly missed your company as of late.”
“Yes m’am, I’ve just been uncommonly busy.”
“So I’ve heard. You are certainly making quite the name for yourself here on the island.”
I chuckled at that,
“Yes m’am, there’s no shortage of busybodies here abouts.”
“Well, perhaps you’d care to come up and keep me company a while?”
“I might be persuaded to.”
She stepped up to me, her hand sliding across my crotch,
“Don’t think I’ve forgotten about the debt I owe you. I’ve been practicing and have became quite accomplished as of late.”
“Well, by all means, how about we put that to the test?”
We went to here home. Without any fanfare, she took my pants off and led me to the chair. I sat down and she took her clothes off and got to her knees. She took my dick in her warm hand and slid her lips over it, taking me deep in her mouth. Her mature attractive face, soft and age lined, her lips blood red with lipstick.
She began working my hardness with eagerness, wanting desperately to please me. She was doing a damned good job of it, too.
Every time she raised up, she explored my cock with her tongue, lashing it around the swollen head, her tongue probing my hole. She went down on it, gagging slightly as she repositioned herself and toik me all the way in. Her lined lips stretched wide as she used her throat to milk my cock. Her weathered hands kneading my balls.
She came up for air, tears leaking from her eyes, trailing mascara down her cheeks. Then she went back to work on me. Pulling gack uhtil just the head was in her mouth and going back down until her mouth fully engulfed my length. Her tongue constantly lashing at me. Massaging my balls.
I knew I was about to cum hard. My balls drew up and the feeling of the powerful orgasm spread quickly through my entire body.
She drew back on more time, sucking in a deep breath of air, the slid down all the way and started a swallowing action with her throat.
My cum blasted out of my balls straight into her belly. My shaft throbbing and pulsing as it sent stream after stream of thick sperm into willing throat.
She pulled off of me and lapped a trailing stream of sperm still leaking out an got up. She dressed and waited on me. I sat down at the table with her.
“I’ve been practicing my technique. Judging by the amount of sperm you just pumped into my stomach, I assume you approve?”
“Without a doubt.”
She smiled at the compliment.
“So, catch me up on what you’ve been doing. I understand congratulations are in order for a child.”
“Yes m’am, a son.”
“You need to quit calling me m’am. I think we’re familiar enough with one another. I mean, you just dumped your sperm into my throat. Not to mention the unholy fucking you’ve gave to my old pussy.”
“Well, Maribeth, I hope we have occasion for more of the same in the future.”
“As do I. Although, I must confess that I do have what seems to be a suitor as of late. Someone I’ve known for a number of years. I’ve worked on several digs with him around the world. South America, Africa, The Middle East.”
“Well, I hope and wish you all the best.”
“Well, Jacob, don’t misunderstand me, I still expect for you and I to continue with our little trists. You can’t break me like a mare and get me addicted to you and expect me to just give you up.”
“No, I guess not. So, how did you two get caught up with each other again?”
“Funny you should ask, but it was because of those bracelets, of all things.”
“Really, how so?”
“Well, I contacted a laboratory inquiring about some tests I wanted done. I sent them in and they analyzed the metal, and performed Xrays. It turned out he had been working on a similar project concerning some finds on other digs.”
“What was his take on them?”
“He brought them back to me personally, and we discussed the findings and results. It turns out the composition is about half pure gold, the rest is an unknown alloy of some sort. The most interesting part is what’s on the inside. Something that looks like wires, in a grid of sorts, with some other components we can’t identify. The thing is, these represent technology we can’t even begin to identify. What is even more perplexing is that they interfere with radio waves. Here, let me show you.”
She got up and turned on her radio, fine tuned it, then took the bracelets over and held the up to the radio one at a time. The radio crackled, then began to emit a sharp series of noises.
“Those are radio waves. But are emitted on a frequency we can’t pin point. But they are extremely powerful. It’s almost like a morse code of sorts. He did try to age them. I’m not sure how that works. But, his gest guess is somewhere between 10,000 to 20,000 years old. But in all probability much older. They also are showing radiation of some sort. He said they’d never seen anything like it. The writing or symbols, they’ve found examples of on digs around pyramids in South America, Mexico and Egypt. But there is nothing in existence to decipher their meaning. So, they remain an anomaly.”
“If I recall correctly, you said you had an idea about them.”
“Yes, I do indeed. Do you remember the sighting you told me about?”
“About them little folks out in the woods in that contraption that just up and flew off like nobodies business?”
“Yes. What do they have to do with those.”
“Jacob, those were people not from here. Extra terrestrials.”
I just rubbed my face. This shit qas getting stranger by the second.
“I’ve seen them, too. Like the ones you saw. As well as others.”
“So, you’re telling me these are from them space folks?”
“Yes, that’s what I’m saying.”
“This is too much for me to wrap my head around right now.”
She slid it over to me. I just looked at it.
“You know, them little folks were too small to wear those.”
“Oh, there’s others out there. Much larger.”
I got up.
“Well, I need to go. I’ll be back though.”
“Don’t forget your bracelet.”
“You keep it, they belong together. Least ways, that’s the feeling I got.”
She got up and went to the door with me. We kissed and I left.
Back home, I came in to JT. He was sitting at the table when I walked in. He got up and shook my hand.
“Jake! Good to see ya, son.”
“JT, how’s it going up there?”
“Bringing in new wells everyday. I brought you another cut.”
He gestured to the bag on the table.
“Good one this time. $526,000. There’s folks talking about a drop in oil prices so, I’m pumping and selling as fast as I can. Make all the money we can before it stops. Although, I doubt a drop in price would last more than a year or so. Oh, it’ll hurt them that’s took out big money loans. I’ve been operating on a cash and carry basis. So, the bottom could fall out and I won’t have banks breathing down my neck for payment.”
“Yeah, me, too. I don’t want to go in debt. I heard some men at the cafe the other day talking about farm and ranch land being at thirty an acre. I’ve been thinking about buying a ranch and farmland. Can’t go wrong on it, if you do it like you said, pay cash and don’t borrow on it. Said he knows a man that owns 50,000 acres over west of Houston. Running cattle and raising rice, corn, sorghum and hay. He’s about to lose it because of the loans he took out and he’d put it up for collateral. I’m thinking of going over there and seeing about it. His name is Carwell. The bank they were talking about is in Houston.”
He chuckled,
“You don’t miss a trick, do you?”
“I figure if a man keeps his mouth shut and his eyes and ears open, he’ll see and hear a lot more than he will otherwise.”
“Well, you feel like company?”
“What do you mean?”
“Going over there. I imagine you’ll need someone to show you how to get there.”
“I imagine you’re right. But I don’t want to put you out none.”
“Naw, you ain’t putting me out. I got some business up in Houston anyway.”
“Well, in that case, sure, I’d love to have your company.”
“When you plan on going?”
“Hell, we can leave in the morning. I just need to figure out how to get money up there.”
“Oh hell, that’s easy. You go to the ranch and make your deal. Then to the bank and they’ll get the money wired in. Simple as that.”
“Ok, in the morning it is.”
Daylight found us pulling up to a small cafe west of town in a small settlement that I never seen a sign for. We pulled in, the tires crunching on the gravel.
Going in, it was starting to sprinkle rain. We sat down and an attractive middle aged woman came over with a coffee pot in one hand and a pitcher of ice water in the other. She flipped over the cups and small glasses and filled them and took our order.
Eggs over easy, bacon, grits, biscuits and gravy.
We talked quietly and listened to the farmers and ranchers talking as they came in and sat down.
She brought our food out and I spoke up,
“M’am, you wouldn’t happen to know a man by the name of Carwell, would you?”
She put her hand on her hip and looked down at me suspiciously.
“You two ain’t from the bank are you?”
“No m’am, I’m Jacob Flannery and my friend here is JT Morgan. I’m from Galveston as of late, but originally I was raised up in Rusk county.”
“Flannery? Yeah, I’ve heard of you, all good, too. You caused quite a stir up there by the way I hear tell of it. Well, my name is Rachel, and Joe Carwell owns the big spread south of here. He’ll be walking in any moment now, if the bank ain’t did for him.”
“Yes m’am, I’m just looking to talk business with him. I heard the bank was giving him all manner of fits.”
“He’s a good man. A fair man. My husband works for him out there. It’s got us all on edge, so, please, overlook my sharp tone earlier.”
“No m’am, think nothing of it.”
She was turning to head over when another customer came in. She stopped,
“Joe, come over here!”
He looked at us suspiciously and came over. He was about 50 or so, my size, maybe a shade bigger. Rawboned and weathered. A solid, strong looking man. But the worry was eating away at him. He had a haunted look around his hard, gray eyes. I stood up and held out my hand, he took it.
“Jacob Flannery.”
“Joe Carwell.”
“Please, Mr Carwell, join us.”
He took his hat off and hung it on the chair upright and sat down.
“Well, state your business.”
“Mr Carwell, I want to buy your place.”
He stared at me hard, not saying anything. Finally he nodded.
“If you’re willing to sell it, give me your price.”
He kept staring me in the eyes, I never wavered. I understood him. This was ol’ fashion horse trading.
“Why don’t you give me yours.”
I nodded. I was an old hand at this.
“You have 50,000 acres?”
“Yep.”
“Twenty an acre.”
He cocked his head
“You think that’s a fair offer, Mr Flannery?”
“No sir I don’t.”
“Then why’d you give it to me?”
“Because I asked you for your’s first, and you wouldn’t give it to me.”
He smiled slightly,
“Fair enough, I asked for that one.”
Rachel came back with coffee.
“Mr Carwell, land’s going for thirty, i’ll offer you forty, here and now. One time offer.”
He sipped his coffee,
“Can I ask a question or two?”
“Yes sir.”
“What are your plans for it?”
“To keep doing what it’s doing now. I ain’t looking to break it up. Nor put any man that works for you out of work. Fact is, I’d be willing to buy surrounding places if anybody will sell. I won’t give forty for them, but fair market. I’m offering that to you because of the size of your place.”
He held out his hand,
“Mr Flannery, you got a deal.”
I shook.
“Can I buy you breakfast, Mr Carwell?”
“I could eat.”
I raised my hand and Rachel came over.
“Whatever he wants. On my ticket.”
“Just my usual, Rachel.”
She headed off.
“Ok, Mr Carwell, what bank you use?”
“First National in Houston. I’m in the hole there, by a quarter of a million. I mortgaged to by some adjoining land, rebuild fences, buy new equipment. I had put the place up for collateral, planning on paying it back with stock dividends. But I lost the stock in the crash. Now, I’d have to sell everything for pennies on the dollar to pay it back.”
“Would you be willing to stay on as manager?”
“I’d say so, and be awfully thankful. Both me and the wife.”
“Then consider the job yours. Let’s eat and go to the bank.”
Another pair of men sitting close by spoke up,
“Excuse me, were you serious on the fair market offer?”
“Yes sir.”
Joe spoke up
“You want to sell out, Charlie?”
“Yep, so does Lassiter here.”
Lassiter nodded in agreement.
Joe looked at me,
“They own the 20,000 west of mine. Adjoins it. Good places.”
I looked back,
“Thirty an acre as it sits.”
They both agreed and we shook on it.
“Do either of you want to stay on?”
Charlie reolied first.
“No, I’m moving the wife to somewhere in California.”
Lassiter just shook his head,
“No sir, I appreciate the offer though.”
Joe added,
“I know those places and the stock. It’s all good stuff. Well managed. I can handle it.”
We all loaded up and went to the bank, signed the papers. I had the money wired to the bank. We went to the courthouse, filed the deeds, then spent the rest of the day looking the places over. Making plans and meeting the crew. Then we drove home.
I was now the proud owner of a 70,000 acre farm and ranch, with both cattle and horses of top breeding. A top shelf crew with no plans on going anywhere. Most importantly, out from under the thumb of the bank. They’d been paid off. I’d buy more adjoining land as it came available. I’d given Joe instructions to put that word out. He knew everybody around, so, would be the first to hear about it.
It was well after dark when we got back. I immediately knew something was wrong. Elsie’s car was gone and mama, Hazel and Annie came running out.
My stomach sank into a pit so deep, I’d never find the bottom.
They came up to me,
“Elsie left. She took the young’uns and a jundred thousand out of that bag JT brought. Packed up and left. She talked on the phone and when she hung up, she said she was going back to her folks up north somewhere. Said she couldn’t stand being here no more. I tried to talk her out of it, but she wouldn’t hear it. Oh Jacob, son, i’m so sorry.”
“It’s ok, mama. I knew she was out of sorts but she wouldn’t talk about it. I imagine she missed her folks more than she’ll miss me.”
JT got out,
“You ok, boy? I’m here if you need me.”
“Yes sir, I’ll be alright. Ain’t nothing to be done now.”
He shook my hand,
“Reckon I’ll get home. I’m headed back up tomorrow, they’re tying in our tank batteries into the pipeline. I’ll be able to start wiring you your share more often now. I imagine after today, you need to recoup that cash you spent. Well, see you soon.”
I went up and sat at the table. She’d taken the dogs, too.
I looked at my bank book and added the debit. I’d started out with two million. Added four. The added another couple since I’ve been here. There was $400,000 in that bag on the table. So, roughly speaking, I still had about four million plus still. I went up and put the money in the closet and stretched out.
I woke with a start. Looking around, sensing I was alone. There was a pang in my heart realizing Elsie had left. Then add to that that she had left without saying a word. That’s the way it is with folks, though. You just can’depend on them. Well, no use in sitting around milk soppin’ about it. The world still demanded its due. Regardless of how you feel about it.
I got up, dressed and went to the cafe and ate breakfast. The sun was up when I headed to the yard. The concrete guys were already pumping concrete. My people were working hard to keep up. They had already poured the new washhouses. The trailers were in and ready. The phone people were installing phones in the trailers.
I drove to the back and they were working on the dock area, dredging out the shallows into a wide canal from the deeper navigable bay water. Barges were dumping stone along the channel. Others were preparing to drive pillars. It wouldn’t be long now. I went to the house and got the money. I took a hundred thousand out and wrapped it up tight and stashed it. Then took the rest to the bank.
I deposited it. Turns out, I have just over five million in here. Apparently JT has been wiring more than I thought. Well, now I’ve got five and a half million and not a penny in debt. I headed back to the house and went up. Made a pitcher of tea. The phone rang. It was the depot. My people were a half hour out. I went to the yard and rousted the women, putting Margret in charge.
“Y’all go to the train depot and pick them folks up, get them settled in. I’ll make a deposit at the mercantile so they can buy groceries. I’ll be back after they’re settled in to make acquaintance.”
They got in the new station wagons and headed out. I went to the store. I met with Mr Perkins and made arrangements for them to buy groceries. I headed to the butcher shop and ordered two whole beefs and four whole hogs and a slew of chickens. Told him to get them ready and I’d contact him for delivery later. Then to the refrigerator man and ordered six of the large size deepfreezers. Then headed back home.
I needed to figure out how to order the big refrigerator units to cool down the warehouses. I’d seen one over at the depot area. But, like I’d heard around, their just wasn’t enough space to go around in the ones that were already here.
My plan was to build these docks. Put in a set up to process the seafood my goats brought in, and store it in my own warehouses. Then truck it out on my own trucks.
One of my conversations when I bought those ranches had been to figure out a cattle feedlot operation and slaughter set up. I’d be able to raise, feed out, slaughter, warehouse, and sell my own beef. Cutting out a few middlemen. The ranches had big herds. The two smaller ones had Angus and the bigger one had Herefords.
Big pretty beef cattle that produce the best in prime grade beef, with old bulls and cows used for ground meat. That was a new thing to me. Ground beef. I’d never even seen it until moving here. But, it sure was a popular thing. The cafe sold these sandwiches called hamburgers. I’d yet to try one. I meant to change that today. I’d seen it called cheeseburger, too. I love cheese, so that’s what I’d go with.
I drove over to the cafe and ordered me one with iced tea. When she brought it out, I looked it over some. The waitress came back,
“Is something wrong, sir?”
“No m’am, I’ve just never seen a sandwich like this, and these taters neither.”
“You’ve never had a burger and fries before.”
“No m’am.”
“Well, you are in for a treat. The french fries you dip in ketchup. Another thing, all this is better with Coke. But it’s getting cold. It has to be hot to be best. Here, let me get you a new one.”
She took my plate and in a little bit, came out with all new fixin’s and a bottle of ice cold Coke. She poured me some ketchup and sprinkled salt on the french fries. I dug in.
Let me tell y’all something. This stuff was good all the way through. I finished it off and finished off another bottle of Coca Cola. I could see cafe’s making a go of it just selling these things and not much else.
I paid out, and to her objection, for both plates. Then I headed to the yard. The new folks were all there, getting settle. I went to Jeb and got caught up. They were moving right along. They were pouring the last wall now. The walls were thick. A solid foot through with lots of iron bars running through them. Rebar, they called it. Two of the hands were laying cement blocks for the washhouses. It wouldn’t be long before there was a washer and two deepfreezers in each of the three new ones.
Jeb went and gathered everybody up and brought them over. All in, there were eight married couples and two single men. Seven couples had one young’un, the eighth had two. All the married adults were in their 30’s and maybe up to 40. Both single men were 40 odd.
We introduced around and I told them to go to the mercantile and get a bill of groceries a piece and whatever else they needed for odds and ends. Everybody seemed happy with their accommodations.
“Ok, everybody, as you already can tell, this is where we’ll be trucking out of. Y’all get acquainted with your trucks and trailers yonder. I’ve bought y’all motor cars to share. We’ll be beginning operations soon, so y’all get your affairs in order in the meantime.
I shook hands around again and left, heading for the store. I needed to order sheet copper and tools. It was time to get a still up and running.
My head kept going back to Elsie. I knew somewhere in the back of my mind that she wasn’t happy. I’d come home at times and her eyes would be red and puffy from crying. But, she always kept it bottled up. I just had to accept the fact that she was gone and there just ain’t nothing I could do about it. Another was the money. I’d told her she could have a million dollars. Why only take a hundred thousand like that. I mean, a hundred thousand is a lot of money. Probably enough for them to live comfortably on for years. If she ever found herself down and out, I’d give her more.
Right now though, I had a job of work to do and families depending on me. I headed for the store then changed my mind. I turned up on the main road and headed north. I was going to the Scruggins place. I knew he kept his old stills in the barn. I’d see if he’d either sell me one or two, or make more whiskey for me.
I drove into the night until I came to the turn off. I was getting sleepy, so I just backed up into the woods and leaned over and dozed until dawn. Driving up on the Scruggins place in the middle of the night was a bad idea. You’d find yourself in a bad state of affairs right quick.
I woke up to the sun creeping up through the trees. Got out and stretched, then relieved myself. Stood there breathing in the smells of the woods. Listening to the sounds of the Earth beginning a new day.
Well, no time like the present.
I started up and headed in. Pulling up, I was met by the pack of vicious cur dogs he kept around. I sat there until he came out on the porch, cut down 10 guage shotgun in hand. He peered at me and I rolled the window down,
“You gonna shoot me or invite me in?’
“Jake Flannery? That you, boy?”
“Yes sir. One in the same.”
He propped the shotgun up inside the door,
“Well, get out and come in. Ma’s got coffee on. You dogs git around now, let him be!”
They backed off as I got out. They sniffed me over as i walked up on the porch. He shook my hand in his crushing paw of a hand. Hands I seen take a hickory axe handle up and twist it in two. That man had enormous strength and vitality that few men ever achieved.
“Come on in and light. Ma, we got company!”
We headed to the kitchen table and she put a cup of strong chickory root coffee in front of me, then set in making breakfast.
You sit at the Scruggins table, you were getting fed.
“Well, son, what drags you up here? Good to see you!”
“Well, sir, I got a notion on a business affair.”
I filled him in on everything I’d been doing since leaving and what I had in mind. Ma Scruggins set the food on the table. Scrambled eggs. Bacon. Grits. Biscuits and sausage gravy. We ate as he processed what I had told him. We sopped our plates and leaned back.
“Well, son, you’ve been busy. So, you want to sell whiskey?”
“The way I figure it, I’ll be moving meat and seafood around the country. I can mix whiskey in the mix and deliver it to the places buying the meat. Send a pint jar sample with the first load of meat. You make the best anywhere to be found. I’d a notion of making it down there.”
He nodded,
“Jake, you have a head for it. I seen it right off when you ran off them batches with me. But, I been down there on that island. It’s a mighty small place to be running stills. Too many busy bodies down there amongst folks.”
He picked his teeth and thought it over.
“Tell you what. I’ve turned most of it over to the boys these days. I was telling ma just the other day I need to get back to doing something or other. Get out from under foot. I’ll set up and start running again. When you’re ready, send for it and we’ll meet up for the hand off. I’ll even make Horseshit Aged Whiskey for you.”
I laughed,
“Hey, that’s good whiskey.”
What you did was set a barrel of whiskey on the ground, cover it with horse turds. Them turds breaking down made heat. Lots of it. It made what amounted to aged whiskey in a short time. None of the horse turds ever contacted the whiskey.
So, we worked out the details, and shook hands. I was back in the whiskey business. We visited a spell, and I headed back home. I’d not told anybody where I was going and didn’t need to worry folks.
I pulled into the driveway midday, went and got my fishing gear and headed down to the beach. I set up, baited, and cast. I got settled in my folding chair wnen ma came down, carryung her own chair.
She got settled in and asked,
“Where’d you run off to last evening?”
“I went up to see the Scruggins.”
She sniffed, unapproving.
I looked over at her,
“Now don’t you start.”
“Well, that’s an almighty unsavory bunch in there ever was one.L
“Yep, and they’ve always done right by me. I learned more about being a man from that man than I ever did from papa. Besides that, they’re kin of your’s, which make me kin, too.”
I got a hit, set the hook and reeled in a good’un. A saltwater cat. Probably go four, maybe five pounds I dropped him in the washtub and rebaited.
“What’re you gonna do now that Elsie took and run off?”
“What can I do? She’s a grown woman. Got her own mind to make up.”
“She took your baby.”
“I’m aware of that.”
“Well, it just don’t seem right.”
“Since when does what’s right figure into anybodies thinking? People are gonna do what’s best for them. That usually means somebody else is gonna pay a price. I reckon this is the price I pay. I don’t like it, but regardless, life goes on. I can sit and waller in misery like an old hog in mud, or keep doing what I’ve always done. Now, i’m done talking about it.”
I caught a few more fish, gathered up my gear and went back to the house. I dressed and filleted the fish, cleaned and stowed my gear and to the fish up. Mama set about frying a mess of it. Hazel and Annie came in and Hazel helped mama and Annie sat down going over some papers from work.
After we ate, it wasn’t quite dark yet, so I drove over to the yard. The office lights were on, and men were leaving from the dock site. The walls of the shop were poured and curing. The walls were up on the washhouses and all but two were roofed. They’d be done tomorrow. I was leaning on my truck when one of the driver’s wives came up.
“Good evening, Mr Flannery.”
I looked her over. Probably about 35. Medium length brunette hair. A floral house dress on, made for comfort instead of looks. She still filled it out right nicely.
“M’am.’ I nodded and tipped my hat.
“I’m louise Palmer. If you remember, I’m Terrance Palmer’s wife.”
“Yes m’am.”
“I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for all you’ve done for us. For all of us. Most of us were facing foreclosure. Just getting by on whatever day work was available.”
“Yes m’am, it’s a bad business out there in the world these days. I’m glad to be able to help.”
“Are you married, Mr Flannery?”
“No m’am, I’m not.”
“Well, I won’t disturb you any longer, please, enjoy your evening.”
“Yes m’am, you as well.”
She stood there looking at me a moment.
“Is something wrong, m’am?”
“No, I’m just curious, is all.”
I just nodded and stared at the office building. I wasn’t biting that hook. She’d have to spit it out before I said anything.
“I was talking to Margret earlier after we got back from the store.”
I just nodded again, waiting.
“She told me about what you did to her.”
I looked at her then, still waiting on her to get to the point.
“She said she’d never experienced anything like it before.”
I turned my gaze back to the office, enjoying the cool evening breeze.
“You don’t say much, do you.”
It was a statement, not a question.
“Only when I figure to have something worth saying. I’m just not sure where you’re going with this, m’am.”
“What if i was to say that i wanted to experience that, as well?”
“M’am, I’d rather you didn’t. Goodnight, Mrs Palmer.”
I walked to the office and found Florence in there. She was moving furniture around, obviously struggling with the larger stuff.
“Well, you look to be having a grand ol’ time.”
She looked over at me,
“I suppose you might call it that. How are you doing?”
“I’m fine, why do you ask?”
“Well, with Elsie leaving and everything, I just thought that, well, you know.”
“I see. Ok, to set the record straight, her leaving has no bearing on my overall state of mind.”
“Alright then, I just wanted you to know I’m here for you if you need someone to talk to.”
“Ok, got it. Now, you want help moving this furniture or not?”
“Sure, grab that end.”
We moved a couch into place, along with several chairs out in the lobby. Then some desks and chairs into offices. Followed up by filing cabinets and assorted side tables. Then we stocked the supply room with all the supplies she’d ordered. Finally, we put typewriters and desk lamps in place. The office was ready for business.
We walked outside and to her car. She turned and looked at the trailrrs. There were several women standing around looking our way. She stepped up and kissed me. Not just a quick hen peck, but one where I thought her tongue had taken up residence in my mouth.
She pulled away.
“I’m coming to stay at your house if you want me to.”
“If you’ve of a mind to, come on.”
We got to the house and went to the deck, just sitting there listening to the waves was up on the shore. The nightbirds casting their voices out to the world to whoever may care to listen. I thought of the other birds I see down here during the daylight hours. The Seagulls. Them strange looking birds called Pelicans. I wondered about where they were right now.
Florence broke the silence,
“How are you taking Elsie leaving?”
“Look, I’ll say this one thing, then I don’t want to hear anymore about it. She run off with the young’uns and never said goodbye. I had no say so in the matter. It don’t matter one bit how I feel about it. People put to much store in feelings anyway. They don’t amount to the worth of a trashy coondog. One day, folks feel this way, tomorrow, well, it’s something else. The only thing i can do is move on with the shit life has in store for me next. I’ve had to talk her out of running off to her folks several times. You see how that worked out for me in the end. So, she made her choice. Now she gets to live with it. She has enough money to see her by for years ahead. I’m not gonna worry about it. I got a life to live, too, and I ain’t living it worrying and fussing over somebody that don’t want me.”
“Ok, point taken. You hungry?”
“Maybe. What you got in mind?”
“Me.”
I chuckled,
“You know something, Lorene, whoever said you can’t have your cake and eat it to, just ain’t never been around you.”
We went to bed and she got astride of me and slid up where her pussy was at my mouth. I went to work on it, too. That sweet, juicy marvel of nature flooded my mouth as she responded. I lapped at it like I was dying of thirst.
She reached down and grabbed my head and ground her furry little pussy onto my probing tongue. She was shaking and quivering as a fresh flow of her sweet nectar flowed out. She tossed her head back and let out a strangled cry.
I grabbed her broad hips and sucked her clit into my teeth and started lashing at it wildly with my tongue. She screamed then as a new, more, powerful orgasm tore through her mature loins.
She fought herself free, sliding back and collapsing on me. Her heavy breasts mashing against my chest. Her hard nipples like small stones pressed against my flesh.
She kissed me as she slid up and positioned my angry hardness against her opening and started working my length and thick girth into her body. She kept her lips pressed to mine as she slowly worked her pussy up and down my manhood.
She started whining into my mouth as she orgasmed again as my sperm flowed into her heated body. This time it was an orgasm from the soul. One that presented in your dreams as you dreamt of making love to the one you long for.
She slid off me, holding her hand over her pussy to keep my sperm from flooding out. After she cleaned herself, I used the bathroom, thinking about what just took place. Something was different here. It was like that feeling you get when you’re sitting on the river bank on a hot summer day. The cidadas sounding off, the Mocking bird lazily calling out. The sun’s rays filtering through the trees as the gentle breeze whispers it’s eternal song.
I had no idea what was going on. I shook my head and went to bed in the arms of this magnificent woman. I was almost asleep when a bright light filled the world around me. A buzzing sound filled the air.
I got up and looked out the window. I saw…something… I could barely make out a shape of sorts amongst the light. I blinked and looked closer. I still couldn’t make out what I was seeing. I ran downstairs and out onto the beach. The light was past me now. It was hovering over by Meribeth’s house. I could vaguely see movement, but couldn’t make out what was moving.
Then the light got brighter and began to flash, like lightning. Then the light, no, whatever was in the light, shot off into the sky and just disappeared, as if it had never been there.
I cut and ran to Meribeth’s place. I burst through the door ahd found her standing in the livingroom, wearing only a men’s undershirt. Her expression was a collection of amazement and horror as she looked around.
I went to her and when I touched her, her knees buckled. I grabbed her and guided her to the couch and sat her down. She looked at me, her eyes wide.
“The bracelets. They took the bracelets.”
“Are you ok?”
“Yes, they didn’t hurt me. I’ll be fine.”
Florence came in,
“What the hell was that?”
“I don’t know.”
Meribeth got her bearings and stood up, going to lorene,
“I’m Meribeth Fleming.”
“Florence Reynolds.”
They shook hands, unsure what to say next. Meribeth looked at me,
“Jacob, thank you for coming. I’m fine. I’m sure I’ll be Ok. Please, go back to bed. We can discuss this later.”
So, we went back to bed. I finally managed to fall into a fitfull sleep filled with dreams of little folks standing around a round looking contraption in the middle of a hay field.
I woke up just before dawn. I looked over at Florence, she was sleeping. Her red painted lips parted slightly. Her glossy raven black hair framing her heart shaped face. Pale ivory skin. I figured she was about as close to perfect beauty that a woman could get. Her dark blue eyes that seemed to protrude a bit. Even her voice was something that seemed to fetch me in. I loved to hear her talk. It had a slight raspy tone to it. A deep quality without being masculine. I was glad she didn’t smoke. Many folks did. I chewed a bite off a plug or twist now and again, but tobaccy smoke set my eyes to swelling up and itching. I don’t know. Just the way of things.
My mind set all that aside and focused on the goin’s on of last night. Was it a dream? Did it really happen? It scared me some because I didn’t understand it. I decided to just try and forget about it. I didn’t figure prying around into it would do me any good at all. I reckon if them other folks, whatever they were, had the notion to talk to me, they could come knock on my door and come in and light. I’d not turn them away just because they was different. That’d never been my way.
I got up and went to the bathroom and washed the sleep from my face. I was drying my face when Florence came in and sat on the toilet. I leaned over and kissed her then went and got dressed and went down stairs. I put on a pot of coffee and mama came down with Hazel and Annie in tow.
I got a root beer out of the icebox and took a big chug out of it. It made me burp and the women giggled, somehow finding it funny. Annie went and got a grape flavored one and sat down with it.
Florence came down and got coffee and set by me. She looked at me,
“What’s your plans for today?”
I took another pull off the root beer
“I reckon to go see to whatever needs doing at the yard. We need to get them trucks moving.”
She nodded,
“I’ll get on that today.”
I drained my drink, got a Coca Cola out, kissed everybody and headed out. I pulled into the yard and all the men were standing around outside, gathered up talking. The air was filled with the smells of the women cooking breakfast and getting young’uns ready for school.
I figured I may as well put together some picnic tables for folks to sit at. They’d need them come spring and summer when it was time to have a hootenanny. Something else popped into my head. The other day, of an evening, when I was driving around, I spotted some young’uns playing around on a contraption. I went and talked to their mama and she let me back there to look it over.
It had all sorts of business going on. Ladders swings, and a metal slide. I asked her where she got it. It came from Sears and Roebuck by mail order. Imagine that. I’d never seen the like.
I figured to get these young’uns here one to play on, too. The women started calling the men in for breakfast.
I walked over to to the shop. It was a biggun. The roof was ready to go on. They were gonna put big I beams on top, set on preformed cement panels and pour cement on top of that with rebar in it. Concrete and steel head to toe sitting on high ground. I figured it’d take an awful big storm to blow it away. I reckon it could be done, but I figured on making it work for it.
I went to the washhouses. They had them roofed in, plumbed and wired up.
Jeb pulled in and came over to me. George came out eating a biscuit and sausage. I’d about quit eating much since I wasn’t working like I used to.
“Well, boss, she’s ready for the roof. Couple of days, we’ll be hanging shop lights and setting up for business.”
“How y’all gonna get them big beams and cement panels up there?”
He gestured to the direction of the dock.
“When I got them situated, I told them to bid in the use of that crane back there they’re driving those pilings with. They’re way ahead of schedule. They’ll be done done setting pilings today. After that, we’ll be laying in the docks. I ordered cypress since it don’t rot like other wood. Probably last most of a hundred years.”
I was impressed to say the least.
“Well, Florence is getting out and about today to round up work for the trucks. I’m headed in to have the washers, deepfreezers, heaters, and meat sent out. Good kob everybody.”
I shook their hands and headed to my truck. I glanced over and saw Margret standing in her doorway, looking at me. I took a notion and went over to her. I walked up on the porch and nudged her inside. I stepped past her and headed for the bedroom. She went to the phone and made a call. I stripped my clothes off and stretched out on the bed. I heard the door open and women talking. Her and Louise came into the bedroom and started undressing.
Naked, the climbed in on either side of me. My pecker had grown to full size and Louise stared at it. Margret toik it and slid her lips over the swollen head, lapping at the trail of precum leaking out from it. She took it in about halfway down. Using her tongue on my jerking shaft.
She pulled off of it and offered it to Louise. She took it and went to licking and sucking on it while Margret sucked on my balls. Taking one then the other in her mouth, lapping at them with her tongue.
I pushed them off and rolled Louise over and slid down between her legs and took to sucking and kissing on her pussy. She had a stronger scent than Margret, and it made my cock jerk smelling her. I pushed her legs up and started licking and probing her tight asshole. This drove her into a frenzy. She grabbed my head and started thrusting her crotch up onto my face. My tongue poked inside her some and I put my hand up to cup her pussy and used my thumb to massage her swollen clit.
She lost control for real then. She cried out hoarsely as she came. Her body jerking wildly as I attacked her pussy with my mouth.
I rolled over to Margret who’d been watching and fingering herself. I started to go down on her but she pulled me up between her legs and grasped me, guiding me into her pussy. I started a slow thrust into her, trying to control my sensations. I slid into her and started grinding my hips in a circle. She began to moan as her orgasm flowed out of her wetly.
I pulled out and moved over to Louise. She got in position and I started pushing into her. Grinding my hips until I met her cervix. Then I got down to the business of fucking the bottom out of her pussy. I went at her hard and fast. My desire to break this woman to my will was unrelenting. She was crying and whining as I fucked her without mercy. Thrust after punishing thrust, my heavy, cum bloated balls slapped against her. She started cumming. Her heels slamming into my hips, her nails digging into my back.
I felt my cum rising, so I redoubled my efforts, pounding into her with impossible energy. My breathe coming in ragged gasps as I fought for air. My cock swelled inside her constantly orgasming pussy. Then my balls emptied huge amounts of potent sperm deep inside her.
My cock pulsed and throbbed as rope after rope of cum sprayed against her womb. I finally rolled off of her, collapsing onto my back. My deflating cock trailing sperm.
Margret immediately went down and began sucking my cock and lapping my crotch clean. Louise just laid thëre, jerking and whimpering as my cum flowed heavily out of her battered pussy.
I laid still until i caught my breath. Then slid off the bed and got dressed. I left without a word. I figured there was nothing to talk about. I got in my truck and left, heading out to handle the day’s chores.
First, to get the freezers heaters and washing machines delivered. I made those two stops, then off to the butcher.
“Mr Flannery, you ready for that meat?”
“Tomorrow. They’re delivering the freezers.”
“Ok, I’ll call him and tell him to notify me when they’re set up. In fact, I’ll call him right now and have him plug them in overnight so they’re good and cold. I got the meat frozen.”
He dialed the phone and spoke briefly.
“Ok, he said he would do it now. So, what are your plans for thanksgiving? It’s this Thursday you know.”
Shit fire damn. I ain’t even thought about it.
“Well, how about some turkey and ham? Got any? I’ll need enough for everybody.”
“How many people?”
“Let’s see, uh, twenty odd.”
“Yep. Robably two big hams and five turkeys oughta do it.”
“Add them in. Can I use your phone?”
“Certainly.”
He gestured to it and I took out my wallet and got out my phone number sheet and a hundred. I handed him the hundred and called Margret.
“Meet me at the store.”
“When?”
“Right now. Bring Louise with you.”
I hung up, and he handed me my change.
“Keep it, put it to pay for turkeys at a mission, for folks that ain’t got any.”
“Why, Mr Flannery, you are quite the benevolent benefactor.”
I had no idea what that meant.
“The church has a program to prepare and feed the unfortunate. Thanksgiving and Christmas, both.”
“How many folks and families are out of work, or a roof over their head?”
“Quite a few, actually. We do the best we can.”
I nodded.
“When do you close up shop?”
He checked his watch.
“Shortly. Why do you ask?”
“I got an idea.”
“Ok, I’m all ears.”
I laid it out. I’d like to build a boarding house of sorts on my property to house folks to work in my processing plant and on the docks.
“Right now, I’m headed to the store to buy fixin’s. Dressing, pies and such.”
“Oh my. Ok, let me call the wife and church, recruit some help. I’ll close up right away..”
I handed him a twenty.
“That should cover any sales you’d lose.”
“Oh, Mr Flannery, that’s certainly not necessary.”
“Well, sir, helping folks is one thing, but business is business. These bills don’t pay themselves around here.”
I headed out and he made calls. I met the women at the store. Louise just stared at me,
“Mrs Palmer, are you alright?”
She guffed
“Am I alright? I had to check to make sure I still had a pussy between my thighs after you left. I would have swore you fucked it off of me.”
“Awww, that wasn’t so much. Next time, I’ll show you what a proper fuckin’ is all about.”
“Oh, no you will not! I couldn’t stand another one like that.”
“Ok, suit yourself. The reason I called is I want y’all in charge of the Thanksgiving dinner for everyboy. I bought turkeys and hams. Y’all need to figure out the fixin’s.”
They looked at each other. Then back to me.
“Yes sir.”
We went in and they set to shopping. I found Mr Perkins
“Sir, I’ve got the church coming. Set them up with everything for a big shindig dinner for the unfortunates.”
He looked at me and blinked, as if he hadn’t heard me correctly.
“I reckon I’ll buy everything you have that has to do with Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners.”
“Everything?”
“Yes sir. Go ahead and tally it up.”
“Jesus, Mary and Joseph…”
He called Annie up front.
“Uncle Jake! Why you here?”
Mr Perkins filled her in on what was happening. She got out her stock book and started doing figures on what she had in stock. After she was finished, she told Mr Perkins, who in turn told me. I signed a check and handed it to him. He filled it out and looked at Annie,
“Make sure to reorder immediately.”
She was already headed to the phone.
The church folks showed up in force. I had the butcher and Mr Perkins supervise that outfit. There was atleast a dozen women in that bunch. I was having none of it.
They all came by and thanked me. Invited me to church. Had a daughter or niece for me to meet. I hunted Margret and Louise. They’d loaded everything up and gave Mr Perkins an accounting. I paid him for it, and left. I’d bought the store out for the most part. My next stop was the lumber yard.
“I need a bunch of lumber, roofing, flooring, windows, doors, nails and what all.”
“How much are we talking about?”
So, I laid it out for him.
“Ok, so, you’re talking about and apartment building for ten or so families?”
“I reckon. You need to talk to the church and get the numbers of folks.”
“Well, the wife already called me. You the one that bought out Perkins?”
“Yes sir. I plan on hiring them folks to work on my docks and seafood processing outfit.”
He just nodded and looked at me
“Mr Flannery, you do beat all. I’ll tell you, those families are good, solid working folks. Fell on the hard times. I’ve hired a couple to work here. They all started showing up looking for fishing and dock work after the crash when all them outfits back east went belly up. Had too much debt way I hear it. I’d bet a dollar to a dime they already have experience.”
“Well, let’s get this ball rolling.”
“Yes sir. Tell you what, I’ll let you have everything at what it costs me. I’ll recruit the men from the church to volunteer labor building this thing.”
“I need one more thing. Some lumber to build tables with. I got twenty odd over there. I figure to have dinner for everybody in the office building.”
“Ok, I’ll figure up a list and deliver it. No charge.”
We shook hands and I told him to let the bank know. They’d transfer the funds.
I left and went back to the yard and hunted up Jeb and George.
“They bringing lumber for tables. We’ll have dinner in the office building. Y’all put us some tables together.”
I was headed back to the truck when Terrance headed me off.
“Did you fuck my wife?”
“I reckon so. She came hunting it.”
He nodded.
“I ain’t sure whether to be mad about it or thanking you for it. I swear I’ve never seen her act so meek before.”
“I ain’t trying to get in nobodies business, but when a woman comes huntin’ it, well, I ain’t turnin’ it down.”
“Truth be told, the gal lives next door been kinda cutting her eyes at me. I wouldn’t mind having a go at it. You doing Louise just gives me the opportunity.”
I chuckled and walked off shaking my head. Sometimes there just ain’t no figuring folks. Oh well, tomorrow’s a new day I reckon.
