After some time, the tears cleared up. “It’s okay, mi vida. You don’t have to have it all figured out,” Caterina said. “And you don’t need a man. They will come and go. Some day if you want, the right man will be there. Or woman, whatever you like.” Lisa laughed. Caterina added, “But I’ll always be there.”
The two hugged and stared at the lake as boats and ducks leisurely passed by. For the first time in a long time, Lisa felt at peace with herself. Just then, a handsome male duck, with its shiny green head and colorful plumage, waddled up to within a couple of meters of the two beautiful women. Perhaps he was expecting bread crumbs. Lisa giggled at the waterfowl and said hello, and the duck seemed to respond to her with a quack. She blew it a kiss.
