Ding-dong~!
“Who could it be?” Stopping your doom scrolling, you kept the phone back in your pocket before walking towards the door of your apartment.
Newly moved to the city, you couldn’t think of anyone who’d be visiting you- Wait, there was someone who could, but…
Amidst your thoughts, you didn’t forget to open the door, and the face of the person standing outside stunned you at once.
Sporting short red hair falling to her chin, a beautiful woman looking to be in her late twenties was standing at the gate.
She was quite tall for a lady, with a slender body and well-endowed assets. Currently wearing a sleeveless white top and blue jeans, she appeared quite attractive.
“Jane? Why are you here?” Reacting after a short lapse, you asked the lady a bit hastily, clearly not displaying the best of the manners.
“Is this how you talk to your sister, Lucas?” Jane, whom you had not seen in a long while, scoffed, though a slight, pleasant smile was present on her lips. It was quite an unexpected sight since all your memories of hers included a mocking or disdainful smile directed towards you.
“Step-sister.” You quipped but still moved out of the way, allowing Jane to enter.
“Hmm, it looks quite cozy.” Jane acted as if she were at her own house, inspecting everything within sight, even entering your bedroom. But her inspection was soon finished, as your place was only that big.
Your apartment had one bedroom and one living area, with a kitchen attached. You could do better, but you found this to be more comfortable, given that you were currently single and had recently moved to the city.
“Why are you here?” Seeing Jane lost in thoughts as she stared at nothing in particular, you couldn’t help but ask.
“Didn’t grandma send my portion of gifts with you?” Jane said it matter-of-factly. Extending her hand, she demanded, “Come on, I’m not going to let you hoard them all.”
“She’s MY grandma,” was what you wanted to say but turned speechless when you remembered that your own father’s mother, your grandmother, liked your stepsister more.
Maybe it was because your grandmother didn’t have any granddaughters, or maybe it was because Jane was the one always helping with the chores whenever you went to visit your grandparents in the countryside.
Whatever it was, you could only helplessly agree.
“Make yourself at home.” Pointing at the sofa, you offered Jane a seat before heading off to your bedroom.
Carrying a big cardboard box, you returned after some time, only to turn speechless when you saw what Jane was doing in your living room.
Jane was still in the place where you had left her. The only difference was that there was an additional bottle of wine placed on the table in front of the sofa.
“Hey.” Placing the box down with a thud, you turned to her, an annoyed expression on your face. “What exactly are you doing?”
Seeing her after so many years, you had to admit that you were not in the best emotional state.
Not even you yourself were clear as to what you felt for this stepsister of yours.
You were quite young when your mother passed away. Your grandparents took care of you for a while before you suddenly heard your father announce the news of his second marriage.
Before you knew it, you were living with your new mother and her daughter, Jane.
If you were being honest, your new mother treated you quite nicely, even better than your own father. Hence, you had no complaints with the new family you got.
If there was one thing that kept getting on your nerves, it was your irritable stepsister.
You were both teens when you first met, with Jane being sixteen and you being fourteen. She was quite the rebellious child, at least against her own mother, but maybe her antics amused your father; he often took Jane’s side, making you feel annoyed. However, since no real harm was done, you just waved it off.
After turning twenty, Jane left the house. You also followed after a couple of years.
That’s when the unexpected happened!
Your remarried parents, who appeared quite happy and content with their married lives, suddenly filed for divorce.
When questioned by you and Jane, they simply replied that they had married simply because they wanted to provide a stable family life for their children. When their children finally moved out, they both decided to end their marriage on amicable terms since it appeared that both your father and stepmother had their own interests to pursue.
At the present moment, your father was cruising through the specific, occasionally posting some pictures that suggested he was with a new woman.
As for your stepmother, she still texted you regularly and seemed to have hooked up with some macho guy with a yacht.
Jane’s figure suddenly appeared in front of you, breaking you out of your daze.
Carrying an empty glass, Jane poured some wine before handing it over to you.
“Drink with me.”
Raising a brow, you took a glass and followed her to the sofa.
After some thought, you realized you’d been acting quite childish for a while. Seeing Jane after so long had evoked the personality you’d developed specifically to deal with her type.
But that was not the reason for your agitation.
After sipping on some wine, you were too relaxed since it was the weekend. It hasn’t been long since you moved her either; hence, you had no friends to have some fun with.
Nor did you care. You were a fully capable introvert who could have fun by himself and maybe get dragged around by some extroverts you randomly encountered and who found you interesting at some parties or pubs.
Maybe your personality was also another thing that made you stand against the bubbly and energetic Jane, who, unlike you, was quite popular and had a way to deal with people since she was young.
Contemplating all these thoughts, you realized you’d been jealous of Jane for so long. But it was still something you had already admitted and could contain.
What really was the issue was that at some point, while you were both living together as a family, you had developed a sense of affection for her that went beyond familial bonds.
However, there was no way you were going to admit it, or worse, confess about it to Jane.
Calming your thoughts, you took another sip and finally turned to Jane, only to find your stepsister had already been looking at you.
Before you could speak, Jane spoke, but what she said next made you choke on your drink.
“I’m getting married.”
The sudden information startled you badly, making you choke hard on the drink you had just sipped. Raising the glass and downing it in one go, you suddenly turned to Jane and asked in a hurry, “Are you serious?”
You knew she had been living together with her boyfriend for quite a while now; however, you had never expected them to be this serious.
“Alright, take a calm breath.” Jane was amused at your appearance as she patted your back to calm your heavy breathing.
“Well, that’s the plan, at least,” she continued after a moment. “Though I’m not too sure.”
“Why?” The sudden news of her marriage did surprise you, even making you feel somewhat frustrated for reasons you weren’t willing to delve deeper into.
But the unsure tone at the end sparked your curiosity as you looked at Jane, waiting for an answer.
“Well, I don’t know.” Jane leaned back on the sofa, looking thoughtful. “Maybe it’s because he isn’t treating me like he used to.”
“Wait. Didn’t you say you’re getting married?” you asked, sounding confused. “Then how can he not treat you right for you to agree?”
“I don’t know how to describe it either.” Jane shook her head, not willing to speak further on the topic.
Deciding not to pry too much in her affairs, you also didn’t inquire about her insecurities further and instead asked, “Do our parents know?”
“Not yet,” Jane replied, shaking her head. “I wanted to be sure myself that it’s really what I want. For now, it’s only a thing me and Jason have discussed between us.”
You both fell silent, focusing on enjoying your drink.
Before you knew it, the bottle was emptied, and at some point, Jane had been leaning on you.
“Maybe you should go home, Jane.” Looking at her droopy eyes and flushed cheeks, you wondered if it was a great idea to let her indulge herself in the alcohol.
“How can you even say that?” Despite having a bit to drink, Jane seemed to be in control of her senses. “I finally fucking found a place in this goddamn city to vent, and you’re telling me to leave? How cruel!”
“Uh, the place you mentioned is my home.” You muttered to yourself, but you didn’t have the heart to send her away like this.
“Do you want to eat something?” Deciding to change the topic, you asked Jane while feeling a bit hungry yourself.
“Sure. Whatcha got?”
“How about some pizza?” You remembered you had some leftovers from the order you’d made the night before.
“Sure.” You took the pizza slices and reheated them before bringing them over to Jane, who seemed famished as she devoured the slices one after another.
“Oh?” As she ate without a care, a piece dropped onto her top.
“No, it’s left a stain~!” Jane grumbled as she tried to wipe it off with the tissues you handed her.
“Uh.” You looked at her, wondering if you should help, when suddenly Jane began to pull her top off her head.
“Hey, what the-?” Flustered, you didn’t know what to say. Before you knew it, Jane was sitting nearby with only a black bra covering her breasts. The black color contrasted with her fair skin, and her exposed belly displayed toned outlines.
For a moment, you felt bothered since you yourself hadn’t been in the best shape, having stopped exercising to focus on your work.
“What’s up?” Jane’s voice snapped you out of your thoughts. You realized two things: you were thinking of something irrelevant, and you were constantly staring at your stepsister’s tits.
“Ahem.” Clearing your throat, you turned your head away. “You could use my washroom if you want.”
“Oh?” An intriguing expression crossed Jane’s face. “Feeling shy, are we? But haven’t you already seen me in worse conditions before?”
Embarrassed, you replied, “Never intentionally, and we were young then.”
“Are you saying I’m old now?” Jane pouted, looking annoyed.
“Alright.” Rubbing your forehead, you helplessly replied, “Don’t mess around anymore, Jane.”
“I’ll get you a shirt or something.” You stood up to go to your room, but Jane suddenly grabbed your hand and pulled you back onto the sofa.
“No need. It’s fine since we’re family, right?” Blinking innocently, Jane then let out a surprised gasp. “Don’t tell me this bothers you because you don’t think of me as family.”
“That’s not it.” You argued back. “And come on, which brother would be comfortable seeing their sister like this?”
“Stepsister.” Jane smirked.
You turned speechless, realizing she wasn’t exactly wrong.
“You know,” Jane continued, suddenly laughing. “I’ve also seen you in some really embarrassing situations before.”
“I don’t believe it.” You scoffed since you had no recollection of any such incidents.
Thinking it was just another one of Jane’s usual attempts to make you feel flustered, you were just about to wave it off when she spoke again.
“You don’t believe me?” Jane raised a brow.
Seeing her expression, you suddenly had a bad feeling about what Jane was going to say next.
“Is that so?” Trying not to act too agitated, you thought about how to divert the topic, but Jane seemed adamant on talking about your embarrassing past.
“I still remember that day clearly.” Jane laughed as she narrated. “The shower in my room was not working, so I went to your room to borrow yours.”
“Can you guess what I saw?” Leaning over, Jane looked at you with a smirk, intensifying the bad feeling in your gut.
“The scene was so steamy,” Jane said before shrugging, making her supple breasts jiggle. “Hot water was raining down the shower, after all.”
As you recalled a similar scene from your memories, you heard her continue.
“A teen body was leaning against the wall.” Jane smirked and raised one hand, closing her palm in a loose fist before moving it up and down in a rhythmic manner. “There was a desperate expression on your face as your hand, tightly wrapped around your… thing, moved quickly.”
“I couldn’t believe my eyes. It was my first time seeing a boy do that.” Jane’s voice sounded quite seductive, especially when she was basically leaning against you.
“But what astonished me the most were the words you said at the last moment.”
‘Oh no!’ You thought.
“You screamed my name!” Jane quickly said it with a weird expression on her face. “Then you painted the shower wall white.”
Not having the courage to turn your head for a while, you kept looking straight, waiting for Jane to speak.
But she didn’t for quite a while, making you feel nervous for some reason. Her sudden recollection of the scene certainly made you feel a bit guilty.
“I was quite spooked out at first, to be honest.” Jane finally uttered these words, giving your guilty conscience another hit.
“But, later, the scene kept appearing in my mind till I couldn’t help but, you know?” Jane suddenly lowered her hand to her crotch, saying, “Rub one out myself.”
Your expression blanked as you couldn’t believe your ears for a while.
Turning your head to look at Jane stiffly, you didn’t know what to say.
Seeing the slight smile on her face, you finally gathered some sense and asked, “Why are you telling me this, Jane?”
Teasing you didn’t seem to be her aim. Otherwise, she couldn’t have added the last part about herself.
“I don’t know myself.” Sitting up straight, Jane suddenly sighed.
“Jane.” Seeing that the conversation was not going anywhere, you steeled your courage before looking at her again, trying to focus on her face and ignore the bouncy bits in your peripheral vision.
“I can tell you are probably not in the right state of mind. I want to help you, but you have to tell me what you want before I can do anything, right?”
“Please, tell me what I can do for you.” Your expression was earnest.
It was true that you had never considered Jane as your real sister, but that didn’t mean you didn’t consider her family.
You cared for her more than you could care to admit. Hence, watching her have a lost expression like this left a bad taste in your mouth.
“Would you really help me with anything?” Jane suddenly asked after keeping silent for a while.
Feeling a bit uncertain about what she wanted, you nodded, determined not to go back on your word.
“Then,” Jane began slowly, “can you… impregnate me?”
“…”
“What!?”
Almost screaming, you stood up and looked at Jane, stunned. But her facial expression didn’t change, telling you that she might be serious.
“What kind of joke is this, Jane?” Scratching your head, you tried to make sense of what was happening. “I mean, I’m your brother. No, wait. That’s not important. Let alone me; you shouldn’t even ask this question to anyone else other than your husband.”
“I mean, you are about to get married, aren’t you?” You asked. “Then, why?”
Jane took a deep breath, distracting me with her rising breasts for a moment.
“Because I’m not so sure about getting married,” she replied.
“Then, don’t.” You shrugged. “Isn’t it simple? I mean, if you’re getting cold feet for such a serious commitment, that’s understandable. You can talk to your boyfriend about it.”
You paused when you realized that Jane was looking at you without blinking.
“That’s not the reason, huh?” Pursing your lips, you spread out your hands. “Tell me what it is, then.”
“What do you think of Jason?” Instead of telling me the reason, she asked me about her boyfriend, instead.
“Well, he’s…” That got me scratching my ear as I was not sure how to describe him.
“Tell me honestly!” Jane quipped.
“Uh, I think he’s a second-gen rich playboy who only knows how to board a plane,” I replied instantly.
“Oh,” Jane blanked for a moment before chuckling, “Well, that’s not wrong, but let me correct you about something.”
Jane thought for a moment before speaking. “While it’s true that Jason has got a rich father, you don’t know that his father is so rich that Jason doesn’t need to work for the rest of his life. That’s why his old man lets Jason play around all he wants. Then someday, when he’s thinks the time is right, Jason will inherit the business.”
“That’s quite some amazing fortune.” You couldn’t help but comment.
“But what is the problem with that? Shouldn’t you be happy instead?” I asked in confusion.
Jane suddenly gave me a glare. “Am I that kind of woman in your eyes? A gold digger?”
“That’s not what I meant.” Waving your hands in a hurry, you tried to explain yourself.
“Hmph!” Jane snorted. “While it’s true it’s good to have a rich partner, to be honest, sometimes wealth can also bring about a change in mindset.”
Seeing my confused face, Jane suddenly took her phone out of her pocket. Swiping through, she quickly opened up a social media app before showing it to me.
On the screen was a picture of a blonde-haired, somewhat handsome-looking boyfriend, Jason.
In the picture, he was on a yacht, holding a drink in one hand and a girl in a bikini in another arm. There were two other good-looking girls standing behind him, snaking their hands over his chest.
You felt a tinge of envy, but trying to act rationally, you stated, “It’s just a photo, right? I mean-”
“The red one.” Jane interjected. “He knocked her up.”
“Oh.” Speechless, you glanced at the phone again. The girl in red was one of the two girls standing behind Jason; she was also kissing his cheek lightly.
“Ah, so he’s cheating on you.” You felt like you’d finally understood the reason for Jane’s uncertain decision.
“Cheating?” Jane scoffed. “That bastard slept with all three of them. The red girl was the only one who got knocked out,” Jane raised her fingers to make air quotes, “luckily.”
“That bastard!” You gritted your teeth in anger.
“Hm?” Jane looked at you and asked, “Why do I feel like you’re more jealous than angry?”
Which man wouldn’t be after seeing another man enjoy his time with three tanned bikini babes?
You were too, obviously.
But gazing at Jane, who was eyeing you like a cat would look at a mouse, you cleared your throat and replied with your fist raised, “How can that be? I’m just amazed at the audacity of that bastard!”
Jane looked at you for a moment before continuing, “And this was not his first time doing that either.” She scrolled through Jason’s profile on her phone, showing me more pictures of him with more women.
“He had fucked at least ninety percent of them, if not all.”
“This one looks a bit too old for his taste, no?” You commented, pointing at one of the pictures.
“That’s his stepmom.” Jane laughed, but it was not a happy one. “And I know for sure that he had fucked her too.”
“…Damn!”
This guy was living the life!
“Uh, break up then.” You said. “I mean, why are you even with a bastard like him? After knowing all this?”
“Because besides wealth, they also have power.” Jane said. “It would have been fine if it were before I met his dad, but now that Jason’s father has agreed to our marriage, it has become a family issue. It won’t be so easy to escape their grasp anymore.”
“Didn’t he have anything to say about the grandchild his son had produced, about how he cheated on you?” You were curious about these people’s thought processes.
“Cheating?” Jane shook her head. “That’s not how they see it.”

“Do you know what Jason told me when I confronted him?” Jane smiled wryly. “He said that it was only because I had refused to go on a trip with him. He needed someone to take care of him at night; that’s why he slept with the three. And when I said how he would feel if I did the same, he said that he would simply dump me because it was his right as the provider.”
“That’s some mindset.” Your face turned serious as you came to understand why your stepsister was not willing to be in her relationship anymore.
“That’s why I need your help.” Jane held your hand and asked earnestly. “Would you, please?”
“But how can that prove to be useful?” Not daring to match her gaze, you asked while turning your head.
“Because I know he’s afraid of responsibilities–something that can tie him down.” Jane replied.
“Do you know what he did with the girl he’d knocked up? He simply gave her some compensation before asking for an abortion.”
Pausing, Jane said. “I mean, that was probably what that girl wanted to achieve too, but I still remember the expression of relief on his face when he was talking to his lawyer about it.”
“How can I ever be with such a person?” Letting out a sigh, Jane sat back down on the sofa.
“The only solution now is to get pregnant and refuse to abort, but since I want to end my relationship with him, there’s no way I can have his child.”
“What if they accept it?” You asked in a hoarse voice.
“They won’t.” Jane shook her head with surety. “Even Jason’s father didn’t seem too eager to have a grandchild.”
“Okay…”
You fell silent, seemingly not knowing how to continue. But in reality, your heart was thumping hard. A sudden anticipation began to emerge; an emotion that had been buried deep within you many years ago was emerging now.
“What would you do after that?” After thinking for a while, this thought suddenly came to you.
“After getting pregnant?” Jane stood up and looked at me. “Don’t worry, I won’t ask you to take responsibility. I myself am capable enough to take care of the child and would make sure we wouldn’t come in the way of your life-”
“Shhhh!” Suddenly closing the distance, you placed a hand on her lips and shushed her.
“That’s not what I wanted to hear, though.”
“Huh?” Jane was rather astonished at this sudden change in your demeanor.
But suppressing her doubts, she asked, “What do you mean?”
