Take it Easy – Chapter Four: Waking Up is Hard to Do – Part 1B

“Nah, she couldn’t tell. We should hurry, though, before she comes back.”

We clothed ourselves and made sure neither of us smelled of sex too much. I left first; as I walked out of the gym, I ran into Jesse again.

“Hey, Jess.” I grinned at her.

“Who was that with you in there?” She asked.

“You know I don’t kiss-and-tell!” I smirked.

“C’mon,” she sighed, “tell me who it was!”

“It’s a seeecret!” I sang, walking past her.

“Was it Ashton?” She probed.

“Nope.” I calmly replied without turning around, though I was secretly nervous that she would find out about Ashton and I.

“Ugh.” She groaned and left.

I left school and went home. My mom greeted me, asked me how my first day was, the usual. I responded in kind and bounded up the stairs. My Xbox had been very lonely lately, so I thought I should give it some companionship. I popped in Assassin’s Creed IV and played for a couple hours until dinner. After that, I dicked around (dicking around is my favorite thing to do and my favorite phrase) for a while, worked on my latest painting, and then went to bed.

School on Tuesday was basically the same as Monday: I tried to stay awake, I hung out with my friends, etc. what was different about Tuesday, however, was that after school, I decided to call Emily to confirm our lunch date the next day.

I scrolled through my contacts, trying to guess which Emily was her. I picked a random one and called her. She answered after two rings.

“Hello?”

“Hey, is this Emily? It’s Aaron.”

“Oh, hi, Aaron. I didn’t have your number. What’s up?”

I silently pumped my fist in celebration of finding the right Emily in my contacts.

“Just calling to confirm our super-romantic lunch date tomorrow. You’re not gonna flake out on me, are you?”

“Mmm… I might.” She laughed.

“Alright, well, if you don’t, I’ll pick you up at noon at your place. Text me directions for where to find you.”

“Sounds good.”

“See you tomorrow.”

“Bye.”

I could hear the smile in her voice as she said that last line; I grinned in anticipation of what was to come. Sex with Emily was great, but I wanted to get to know her better and I planned to tell her that.
